Waifu, FWB or One-Night Stand? #16

It’s week #16 of Waifu, Friend With Benefits or One-Night Stand!

For those new to the article, this is not a post that talks about the “fuckability” of three randomly selected female characters from various anime and video games. I’m already attracted to them, it’s to be implied that I would share a bed with them already. What this article is meant to do, is go through their personalities, interests, anything pertinent to answering the question if they’re a one-time only, a friend that I might accept the occasional booty call from, or someone I would absolutely spend the rest of my life with.

So without further to do, let’s meet this week’s contestants!

We’re about a month or so removed from Liara’s Character Spotlight, so her personality is pretty fresh in my mind. This Asari party member in the Mass Effect trilogy has quite the list of accomplishments to her name, but perhaps the most important one is that she was my first pick out of all the potential romantic relationships I could’ve had. Granted, there were only a few choices and Tali wasn’t one of them, but I drifted to Liara on my own to begin with.

In the early going of the game, Liara comes off very much like a naive young girl. You first find her suspended in an energy field looking like a fool and her personality is almost that of a teenage girl, very naive, a bit anxious and wanting to talk a lot. As a researcher, she’s a very intelligent young woman, very well-spoken and articulate, as well as very kind. She’s more than willing to help in any way she can, her goals being to SAVE and RESCUE her mother who she believed to be brainwashed into helping the main villain of the original game. She’s very new however to all things intimate, her relationship with Shepard being the first one and her expressions and fumbling of words during the entire process being absolutely adorable.

But once the second game rolls around and Liara shifts from being a researcher into being an information broker, it’s less about SAVING and RESCUING and it’s become more about SCARING and KILLING people to get what she wants. This side of Liara is a weird mixture as her loving heart still certainly exists and being around Shepard again almost acts like a switch for her. But when the job comes up, she’s like a completely different person that what we first knew her as in the first game. And this continues all the way to the end of the trilogy, to the point that it’s a bit of a strange transition to make if you fell in love with her in the first game.

So with that being said, here’s my call on Liara:

♦ FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS ♦

If you take the whole information broker side of Liara out of the equation, if you just have the first game’s Liara on this decision, then perhaps she would easily walk into Waifu status. But I can’t do that, because I’ve seen this side of her, regardless of whether it only happens due to the job or not, I’ve now seen this side of her and I have to assume that this side exists no matter what. And because of that, there’s so many reasons I have to stay away from a potential marriage. I mean, the “I can kill you easily.” part of her is pretty crazy, but the biggest one is that she’s an information broker. How could you possibly trust someone like her with any information about you? No to mention, since she’s going to dig deep for any information, how uncomfortable would it be to know that you’re dating and possibly even married to someone who has access to essentially every piece of information possible? Yeah, not into that!

A Final Fantasy character that most people have forgotten about and don’t really talk about, Alyssa from Final Fantasy XIII-2 is one of those girls that I was really enjoying, but most people seem to either not care about or hate.

I’m not really sure why, I always felt like Alyssa was a very cheerful and spunky young girl. Throughout the early parts of the game, she’s quite possibly the sweetest girl and that’s saying something when you have Serah as a main character. But as the “idol” of the Academy, she’s a very charming girl, more than willing to help out her friends with anything they need.

Granted, there are things about her that are negative. She’s a very good liar, that’s for damn sure, though she admits that she believes lying can be a good thing, helping others get by and move forward. I suppose the biggest thing against her is that she ends up betraying Serah and Noel in the end, but when you understand her backstory and her reasons why she chose to do what she did, would you really blame her?

Anywaus, let’s get my call on Alyssa:

♥ WAIFU ♥

I don’t care what anyone says about her, if they say anything at all, Alyssa is a lovely girl and I love her. She is a very nice girl when she’s not betraying you for what I believed to be very sympathetic reasons, she’s a very charming girl, cheerful, happy as all hell, just a beautiful mind. Taking her away from the situation she found herself in and just having the person in front of me, there’s no doubt in my mind that I’d enjoy her company forever and ever.

This is a very tough one to judge because Moka has not only two personalities, but two different forms to accommodate each personality. So let’s start off with the easy one to talk about.

The silver-haired Moka is her “inner form”, arguably her normal form where her full-vampire self is allowed out. She is very cold, heartless and violent…at least that’s what she is when she’s fighting. In the few times she’s out in full-vampire form and not having to kick the shit out of some monster that was trying to get into her other version’s pants and/or picking on Tsukune, she’s actually a relatively normal girl, albeit exuding more tsundere traits. But she is a very reserved girl, not wanting to lose the few friends she has and is very protective of them. She shows her girly self a bit too, loving to shop and having stuffed animals around. She’s also a bit of a flirt and is absolutely hilarious when she attempts to do so.

Outer Moka on the other hand is absolutely insufferable at times and this is coming from a girl that will happily kick your face off when she’s not in this overly lovey-dovey pink-haired form. Inner Moka is very close to this “fake personality” of hers, which immediately makes this form rather interesting to judge when it’s arguable that the form doesn’t even truly exist. But to get it out of the way, Outer Moka is an overdose of happiness, love and the purity of a teenage romance, she’s way too clingy, way too girly and way too “Omigosh! I love you!”.

So with those two entities out in full, here’s my call on Moka and it may surprise you:

♥ WAIFU ♥

Despite her violent streak, I absolutely love Inner Moka and assuming that this all takes place after her high school years are over and she doesn’t necessarily need to hide her full-vampire side, I think it’s very possible to keep the rosary around her neck removed so she retains her Inner Moka form. It’s arguable to say that a tiny bit out Outer Moka exists in her, though nowhere near as over-exaggerated, as she is still a girl through and through, but her more badass and cool personality makes her far more attractive to me and I think that after proving to her that I’m not some jack-off she’ll just kick in the face, there’s a real beautiful girl both inside and outside. I just have to hope that bites on the neck don’t hurt too much.

So that’s this week’s edition of Waifu, FWB, or One-Night Stand, hope you enjoyed it! Leave any comments you’ve got below, whether it’s your own choices between the three or maybe I’m missing something that could’ve turned the tide on my decision with any one of these girls.
