Waifu, FWB or One-Night Stand? #23

It’s week #23 of Waifu, Friend With Benefits or One-Night Stand!

For those new to the article, this is not a post that talks about the “fuckability” of three randomly selected female characters from various anime and video games. I’m already attracted to them, it’s to be implied that I would share a bed with them already. What this article is meant to do, is go through their personalities, interests, anything pertinent to answering the question if they’re a one-time only, a friend that I might accept the occasional booty call from, or someone I would absolutely spend the rest of my life with.

So without further to do, let’s meet this week’s contestants!

On the surface, Kaede from Shuffle! really does look like the perfect girl, the perfect wife. She’s absolutely stunning, very kind, good at pretty much anything she does and even displays on a consistent basis that she’s more than capable of the classic housewife character, extremely good at cooking, cleaning, all that jazz. She’s a real sweetheart, the kind of girl you wish you could spend the rest of your life with, without regrets.

However, once you go through the first half of that book, you find the dark side of this girl. Kaede clearly suffers from some serious mental shit, that sweetheart can switch from that to an extremely violent girl in a moment’s notice. And we’re not talking yelling, hitting or throwing something either, we’re talking she actually tried to stab, possibly even kill another girl because she felt she was getting a little too close to Rin, the guy she liked. Yep, she a yandere.

So I’m not even going to try this one, here’s the easy call:

There’s no “Back the Fuck Up!” option, so the one-time-only option is the best I can hope for. Kaede despite her wonderful exterior is an extremely dangerous girl. We can’t eliminate this either due to fantasy bullshit. Nope, the stuff in her life that could’ve caused this mental distress is realistic and could happen. There’s no avoiding it, she’s not worth the risk of having a meat cleaver lodged in my neck. So no thank you, Kaede!

Assuming the whole insanity that is Qualidea Code‘s story and world, what can we deduce about a real-life Asuha? Let’s say based on her love of guns, in particular her duel-wielded pistols, is it far-fetched to say she might take a career in the military, maybe as a police officer?

Either way, taking her into a normal setting, I imagine Asuha’s personality won’t change very much. To most, she’s very cold, quiet, distant around most people (not as much as her brother, mind you), not necessarily a loner per se, but she’s not the overly energetic talker than a lot of anime girls tend to be. She’s also very laid back when it’s not time to be serious, often pretty lazy at home, just hanging around.

There are a few moments towards the end of the series where we do see a more caring side to Asuha, in particular with her brother and her mother and it’s a really nice side to her. She’s shown that while she’s pretty much a cold tomboy, there is a shining adorable side to her that you get to see once in a blue moon.

That’s all I got on Asuha, so here’s my call on her:

As much as I love how adorable Asuha is capable of being, there’s just not enough to convince me that she’s a girl I think I could spend the rest of my life with. She does seem like she’d be fun and interesting in doses, however, so I’m not convinced that I have to put her at the bottom either. So it’s the middle of the road for Asuha. I don’t sense she’s a bad person, I just don’t have enough for my brain to tell me that she’s perfect either. She’s just good people.

One of the maids of the Sakuraba household, Taeko from Ai Yori Aoshi is an interesting case to say the least. She’s a real sweetheart, which needs to make up for the fact she’s one of the clumsiest people the world’s ever known. But she’s also extremely neat, easily the tidiest room in the household.

She can be a bit of an awkward girl, her clumsiness not helping at all, but she remains a very positive girl, a very kind girl. She’s a real ray of sunshine, someone who even after a terrible day will stay happy and as we know in life, that shit can be contagious!

Unfortunately, there’s not a lot more information I can find on her from Google, so unless I go back and watch the entire series (which I ain’t got the time for nowadays…), I’ll just settle here and make my call:

It might come off weird after I talked so little about her that putting her in the highest regard would be so unlikely, but while I can’t recall every single moment of her from the show that is now over a decade old, what I do recall Taeko quite simply is that I was in love with this girl. Granted, I’ll need a high paying job to make up for all the stuff she might break, but Taeko, the girl, the personality, I adore her. She’s a real sweetheart, one of the most positive and happy girls I’ve seen in anime without getting too cringe-worthy with it. Coming from a person who can get pretty down at times, having such a happy person in my life would be such a plus, I’d be crazy to turn such a girl down!

So that’s this week’s edition of Waifu, FWB, or One-Night Stand! Hope you enjoyed it! Leave any comments you’ve got below, whether it’s your own choices between the three or maybe I’m missing something that could’ve turned the tide on my decision with any one of these girls.
