Waifu, FWB or One-Night Stand? #26

It’s week #25 of Waifu, Friend With Benefits or One-Night Stand!

For those new to the article, this is not a post that talks about the “fuckability” of three randomly selected female characters from various anime and video games. I’m already attracted to them, it’s to be implied that I would share a bed with them already. What this article is meant to do, is go through their personalities, interests, anything pertinent to answering the question if they’re a one-time only, a friend that I might accept the occasional booty call from, or someone I would absolutely spend the rest of my life with.

So without further to do, let’s meet this week’s contestants!

Kicking off this week is the nocturnal member of the 501st Joint Fighter Wing, the Strike Witches. Sanya due to her weakness to sunlight is always on the night watch for enemy Neuroi, but since we’re putting her 70 years into the future and removing a war with an alien race, it’s more like she works the night shift and sleeps through the majority of the day, usually exhausted when returning home.

Her personality has her, in large part being more like a ghost than anything else. She’s not much of a talker, very shy, passive, quiet, all that jazz. She also doesn’t have a lot of confidence in herself, so it’s no surprise that most people are not all that aware of her existence, even if she’s in the room with them. However to the few she’s really close to. she’s very kind and loving to them, the kind of girl you want to protect if you’re friendly with her.

Otherwise, the other pertinent things about her are her skills playing the piano and her singing voice.

So here’s my call on Sanya:

Due to her extremely quiet nature, I’m not sure that Sanya and I would be compatible for a long-term relationship. However at the same time, I don’t think there’s enough there to keep me away from her either. The time I’ve seen Sanya on-screen, when she’s actually around, she’s an adorable, kind girl. And it might not sound like much, but her musical talent would go a long way with me, as a musician myself. So for Sanya, the middle road sounds about right.

Right off the bat, this green-haired tomboy from the Shuffle! series has to be adjusted to fit in with real life. She is born the daughter of a human and a devil and has a sickness based on the sheer amount of magic flowing through her body, because of her devil mother. So we immediately have to eliminate the half-human, half-devil part of her and since her sickness is due to being a half-breed, that eliminates the sickness as well.

So back to this perfectly normal green-haired tomboy! Asa is an extremely energetic person, often teasing her friends and playing around with those she feels any amount of acquaintanceship to. This can include slaps on the back, subtle lines about their feelings for someone else, or she’s even a little flirtatious at times, though it’s not clear if she does it because she likes these people she flirts with, or if she does it for funsies. Speaking of relationships, Asa is the kind of girl who either doesn’t notice just how popular she is in terms of gaining the affection of people, or outright refuses them when she’s told that someone likes her. She’s a tough nut to crack!

That’s the gist of Asa, so here’s my call on her:

While in the early going, Asa is a real tough girl to get past the ‘tease phase’ of, the Asa that you’ll get in the end is more than worth the effort. Someone as cheerful as she is at all times is hard to come by and we’re talking fun-loving and jokingly cheerful, not the cliche anime girl who is happy about everything and looks fake. She’s not a housewife kind of girl, she’s a best friend kind of girl, someone that you could go anywhere with and have a good time and especially someone you can joke around with and not worry about pissing off because she has no sense of humour. And yes, there is that tomboy bias in me as well. Come on, what’d you expect?!

This badass swordswoman from Qualidea Code packs a real punch. Even taking away the craziness that is the battle with the Unknown in the show, this is still a girl that you don’t want to mess with, she will whip your ass in more ways than you could imagine!

Hotaru is a classic anime girl, the calm, cool and collected type. Though what really defines her character is her relationship with Maihime, another girl in the series. It shows that anyone who is close to her, she protects them with her life and is one of the most caring people you could ask for.

There’s honestly not much else to say about Hotaru beyond her badassery, so let’s get to the decision:

I think in terms of her personality, she’s not actually a bad person at all. But this decision is based on my own hypothesis on Hotaru, that I don’t think she’s interested in anyone other than Maihime. If the option was available, I’d actually pass on her because I’m positive that she and Maihime are an item, but since this is the lowest option available, this is what I have to take. Who knows, maybe I’ll get lucky and get the third party involved as well in this one-night-only opportunity.

So that’s this week’s edition of Waifu, FWB, or One-Night Stand, hope you enjoyed it! Leave any comments you’ve got below, whether it’s your own choices between the three or maybe I’m missing something that could’ve turned the tide on my decision with any one of these girls.
