It’s week #29 of Waifu, Friend With Benefits or One-Night Stand!
For those new to the article, this is not a post that talks about the “fuckability” of three randomly selected female characters from various anime and video games. I’m already attracted to them, it’s to be implied that I would share a bed with them already. What this article is meant to do, is go through their personalities, interests, anything pertinent to answering the question if they’re a one-time only, a friend that I might accept the occasional booty call from, or someone I would absolutely spend the rest of my life with.
So without further to do, let’s meet this week’s contestants!
Kicking off this week’s edition is Rio Kazama from the amazing(ly bad) anime, Wanna Be The Strongest In The World. Her background will be rather short because she’s a minor character in the show, but she’s a girl that really caught my eye when I watched the show.
Rio is a very cocky and arrogant pro wrestler, which realistically isn’t all that abnormal, you kind of have to have a bit of arrogance to be successful in the pro wrestling industry. She’s known for being the first opponent for lead character Sakura, who she beat very handily because a veteran pro wrestler should have no problem beating a teen idol learning to wrestle as a promotional event. When Sakura enters for training, Rio takes the business very seriously, so she was adamantly against these idols coming into what especially in Japan is still a well-protected business. Pro wrestling in Japan is still very realistic, a lot of MMA influence involved, so having a couple adorable idol girls with big titties coming into her world obviously would rub her the wrong way.
In the couple of moments Rio isn’t in the ring, she seems a bit more laid back and fun-loving. I kind of view her like an outgoing tomboy who’s always cracking jokes, just having a good time. But when it’s time to lace up her boots and either wrestle or just train, it’s all serious.
Anyways, that’s all I’ve got for Rio, so here’s where she lies with me:
♥ WAIFU ♥
This probably comes as a strange call, given that I gave Misaki from the same show only the middle tier because I felt like I didn’t have enough information on her. The difference between her and Rio though, is that I feel like there’s a little more with Rio that I actually come to like, she comes off to me a lot more friendly if you’re not on her bad side. Like I said earlier, I look at her like she’s a fun-loving tomboy and that’s a big plus for me. And of course, our love for pro wrestling is going to mix very well, so Rio seems like a good pick for me.
This Luck & Logic young lady is a tough case of abandonment, depression and a lack of social skills. Mana is a product of terrible parents who abandoned her IN A FUCKING COIN LOCKER when she was a baby. Since then, when she was old enough and knew where to go, she spent every night there, hoping one day her parents would return.
This has led to Mana having an extremely fucked up personality. She’s extremely quiet, barely even speaking to her own Covenant, Artemis, let alone anyone else. It makes you wonder that if you placed her in the present day, would she have anyone around her the same way Artemis is? The worst part about her though is that she puts little to no value on her own life, because of her parents in her mind rejecting her. She intends to try and completely change herself so that her parents would take her back, regardless of the fact that there’s no way it’ll happen and she probably knows this deep down.
I’ve got not much more, so I’ve got to make this call:
♦ FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS ♦
There are other characters that have been on this list that don’t have as many mental issues as Mana and I’ve still picked them for the lower tier. However with Mana, I don’t look at her at the same way I do with some of the others. Take the girls from last week, Rei literally doesn’t want relationships and Tuka’s mental breakdown is a lot more dangerous, where Mana is really just quiet. Because of this, I don’t see a reason to push Mana away, in fact I think she’s the kind of girl worth sticking around and trying to help get out of the years of mental abuse she’s gone through because her parents dumped her IN A FUCKING COIN LOCKER when she was a baby. I think with Mana there’s something there and unlike some of the other mental cases that have been on this list, Mana isn’t as dangerous, nor as difficult to approach. She has abandonment issues, with time that is certainly fixable.
The older brother kicking scuba diver from Amanchu!, Ai acts as the middle ground when it comes to the classic spunky, upbeat anime girl (because Hikari is like triple as hyper) and plays her role as arguably the lead supporter of the show as Hikari and Futaba’s sempai.
While yes, she is a spunky, upbeat girl, she’s also very down-to-earth and often switches between three different levels of her personality. There’s the early morning Ai, who takes forever to get going after waking up and is very slow and drags her feet everywhere. There’s the over-the-top, almost hyperactive (tame compared to Hikari) Ai, who we see the majority of the show as the scuba diving lover and just a super cheerful teenage girl. Then there’s the “I’m going to kick your ass” Ai, who you don’t want to mess with, because she’ll chance you to the ends of the Earth to get a piece of you.
In the end though, she’s a great friend, the kind of person who will always care for those who are close to her and will scold them when she feels it’s necessary. She’s not going to hide anything from you, she doesn’t enjoy sugarcoating or bullshitting you.
So with that all done, here’s my call on Ai:
♥ WAIFU ♥
I flip-flopped between the top and middle tier with Ai while writing this article, but in the end I chose the top tier. Hoping that I don’t piss her off enough that she starts randomly kicking me without notice, I think there’s a lot to love with Ai. She’s a blast to be around (when she’s woken up), she’s very caring for those close to her and she’s not bound to a single personality, like so many one-dimensional, boring characters are. And heavy bias towards red hair, it’s almost unfair to do that to me.
So that’s this week’s edition of Waifu, FWB, or One-Night Stand, hope you enjoyed it! Leave any comments you’ve got below, whether it’s your own choices between the three or maybe I’m missing something that could’ve turned the tide on my decision with any one of these girls.
