Waifu, FWB or One-Night Stand? #36

It’s week #36 of Waifu, Friend With Benefits or One-Night Stand!

For those new to the article, this is not a post that talks about the “fuckability” of three randomly selected female characters from various anime and video games. I’m already attracted to them, it’s to be implied that I would share a bed with them already. What this article is meant to do, is go through their personalities, interests, anything pertinent to answering the question if they’re a one-time only, a friend that I might accept the occasional booty call from, or someone I would absolutely spend the rest of my life with.

So without further to do, let’s meet this week’s contestants!

Kicking off this week is the telepathic green-haired witch from Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches, Meiko Ootsuka.

We don’t see a whole lot of Meiko compared to other girls in the show, she’s certainly one with very low screen time, really only being featured extensively in the episode dedicated to her. So it’s hard to get a real idea of who she is, but I will do what I can in the short amount of time she was on-screen. What we do see of Meiko is that she’s very much a classic nerdy-looking girl, she’s very shy and very soft-spoken in the times she actually speaks to you directly. In the context of the show, she uses her telepathy more often to communicate, rather than just speaking to people face-to-face. She’s easily spooked and can hit the panic button at any given moment. Yet she’s got this alter ego where she’s very bossy, almost like a military commander when speaking through telepathy, it’s very odd.

The most pertinent thing about her is her academics, in that she’s the polar opposite academically to what her looks would tell you. She’s even worse than the protagonist, who’s known as the cliche dumbass delinquent. She’s a masterful artist, particularly with manga and that style of drawing, but she counters that talent with being one of the worst students academically in the entire school.

So with that being said, here’s the brutally honest call on Meiko:

For me, it doesn’t matter how pretty you are (which Meiko is very pretty), how amazing your talents are (which Meiko’s art is), or anything of the sort, if you are academically challenged, it’s extremely hard for me to find that person attractive. Intelligence is very important to me and from what we see from Meiko in the anime, she’s real bad, to the point that Nene, who’s one of the top students in the school can’t even get a simple equation through to her. I’m sure she’s a real awesome girl, but based on the lack of intelligence she shows in the anime, I just can’t take a look at her without fully believing there’s no way I could be around her.

Second up is the teenage waitress at “My Pleasure” in Chobits.

Yumi is a very straight-forward character in the show, she’s your classic bubbly small girl (with big boobs) who acts as the girl who makes everyone around her, in particular the protagonist when he’s down, happy and lifts their spirits. She’s a very optimistic kind of girl, very high on life and always willing to lend a helping hand to those around her. On the other hand, she’s very insecure with herself, often getting very negative about herself when talking about Persecoms, the android servants within the show, believing that since they’re made to look perfect, she is obviously not perfect and that really gets her down.

There’s really not much else to say about her (mostly because I’ve forgotten a lot about her, the show’s much older than most anime that land on these posts), so here’s my call on Yumi:

While I don’t remember everything about Yumi from my time watching Chobits, I do remember how she was easily my favourite character on the show and I adored her. She was such a shining light on the show, I always had a smile on my face when she was on-screen. She also comes off as a very real girl, she’s very happy, but also comes with personal insecurities that all of us have about ourselves. And if you’ve been reading these posts in the past, you know that I have a major lean towards girls that do come off as those who resemble real people, rather than girls who are over-the-top exaggerations of certain emotions and/or personalities. So Yumi’s an easy waifu pick for me.

Lastly is the masochistic and perverted witch from Rosario + Vampire, Ruby Toujou.

Originally in the show, Ruby appears as a villain, someone who hates all humans and tries to kill the main character and his friends/harem. After fighting them and eventually understanding the protagonist and his non-human friends with how well they get along together, she eventually joins them and returns to their academy. Upon this, she becomes a member of the staff and shows that she is actually a very intelligent and sophisticated woman, more than capable of filling in as a substitute teacher. She’s also very loyal to those around her, more than willing to lend a helping hand, not to mention will do (pretty much literally) anything she’s asked to do.

However this doesn’t go without her having any potentially negative personality traits, depending on the person at hand. Like I said at the top, Ruby is a masochist and a huge pervert. And once she falls in love with the protagonist, it’s upped even further, often stripping in front of him, even lending him power of her yokai swimsuit, which basically meant her swimsuit was a string. She enjoys being tortured and pain is pleasure to her.

So naturally, this makes my decision on Ruby pretty easy:

A major part of a relationship is the sex. And if Ruby wants me to torture and inflict pain upon her, even if it’s of the most minor nature possible, that’s a huge no-no for me. Her personality isn’t terrible, aside from her perverted nature, in actuality I think by removing the extreme perversion and masochistic nature, she’s potentially in the waifu tier. But the masochism alone is a gigantic turn-off and because of that, she gets the lowest tier.

So that’s this week’s edition of Waifu, FWB, or One-Night Stand, hope you enjoyed it! Leave any comments you’ve got below, whether it’s your own choices between the three or maybe I’m missing something that could’ve turned the tide on my decision with any one of these girls.
