Waifu, FWB or One-Night Stand? #39

It’s week #39 of Waifu, Friend With Benefits or One-Night Stand!

For those new to the article, this is not a post that talks about the “fuckability” of three randomly selected female characters from various anime and video games. I’m already attracted to them, it’s to be implied that I would share a bed with them already. What this article is meant to do, is go through their personalities, interests, anything pertinent to answering the question if they’re a one-time only, a friend that I might accept the occasional booty call from, or someone I would absolutely spend the rest of my life with.

So without further to do, let’s meet this week’s contestants!

Kicking off this week is a minor character in My Wife is the Student Council President, the adorable secretary of the student council who loves to wear cat…paws on her head? Anyways, this is Ayane Niikura.

This will be a shorter background on her since she doesn’t have a lot of screen time on the show. The majority of the time we see her when the student council are together, she’s usually in the role of the absent-minded girl whose head is so far in the clouds that it’s amazing that she can still breathe. She acts as a supporter (and sometimes enabler) for the main girl of the show, Ui, no matter how terrible the ideas Ui come up with are.

In the episode that is dedicated to Ayane, we really get a sense of just how ditzy and dense she actually is, she almost makes it look like it’s an Olympic sport. When she’s put with the MC on a “date”, she treats it how she must’ve read it in doujinshi or whatever, cause her ideas were to buy clothes, but have Hayato IN THE CHANGING ROOM WITH HER while she undressed. Granted she told him to turn around, but kind of didn’t notice the mirror that he was facing in doing so. Hell, she wanted to finish the night at a love hotel, “because that’s what you do”, right? Even when Ui broke it up, she suggested the three of them go anyway. It appears that Ayane is the kind of girl that needs to be sat down and shown the ropes, so to speak.

So here’s my call on Ayane:

In all honestly, despite her extremely dense personality, I think Ayane has a real good heart and just needs to be broken out of her little safe space that she’s in, as it’s likely her parents really didn’t raise her with some important life lessons along the way. But if Ayane was to be a little less of a spacecase, I think there’s a real beautiful personality there, one who’s very caring and loyal to the person she loves. Or maybe I’ll just let her be and try to get away with a threesome…

Second up is a well-known female character in the Final Fantasy series. From a summoner to an idol singer wielding dual pistols, it’s Yuna from Final Fantasy X/X-2.

Now if I had originally taken the FFX version, this would be a much more negative conversation. Because I didn’t like the summoner Yuna, she was really boring in that game and a very naive girl, following blindly whatever she was told to follow. But it’s when the sequel in Final Fantasy X-2 came out that I saw a Yuna that I really started to enjoy.

FFX-2 Yuna is a much better change from the original version of her and I’m not talking the hot pants and cleavage, though they were welcome additions regardless. She still retained that polite, soft-spoken side of her, but the blind follower is completely gone. Yuna actually tries to enjoy life to the fullest, rather than taking on the world’s burdens on her shoulders. She’s very playful, a trait she picked up from hanging around my favourite Final Fantasy character, Rikku. But she’s also very outspoken now and actually has a pissed off, intimidating side to her if someone crosses that line. But most importantly, she thinks for herself now, rather that what some religious teachings say she should be doing. She’s her own girl and it’s a lovable one.

So here’s my call on Yuna:

There really wasn’t a need for deliberation in this decision, the new and improved Yuna in Final Fantasy X-2 was just such a wonderful character. She had greatly improved upon all the things I hated about her in FFX, she wasn’t an overly obedient girl anymore, she was thinking and deciding for herself and her own interests and through all these changes she made, she was still a loyal, kind girl who would do anything for her friends. But the additions to her personality, being more eccentric and playful, having a much more outspoken personality and most importantly, she didn’t run like someone who had never run before in her life (seriously her FFX running animation is embarrassing). When in FFX she seemed like the most boring girl in the world, in FFX-2, Yuna became a girl that I thought I could spend every day of my life with, have funny conversations with and never get bored of being around her. What an improvement over a single game.

Finishing off this week is the yellow fox kigurumi wearing beauty from Infinite Stratos, Honne Nohotoke.

First off, I have to note that while she spends the majority of the anime in that kigurumi, Honne is actually one of the most gorgeous girls on the show, she’s hiding a very well-endowed, curvy figure and she’s very mean for doing so.

But in terms of her personality, Honne is an easy to love girl on the show. While she never has an episode dedicated to her, she makes the most out of every moment that she’s there. There isn’t a girl on the show with a happier, more bubbly personality than Honne, she doesn’t look like she has a mean bone in her body, she’s just a shining star of happiness everywhere she goes. She can come off a little childish at times, but I think it’s more her playful nature and just how much she loves to be the one in the highest of spirits around everybody.

So the interesting part comes when I try to figure how she would be outside of the confines of the show’s premise. But I’ve done so and this is why I’ve come to this decision:

There was never a thought about the lowest tier, but I was flipping back and forth between this and the middle tier. In the end though, I chose the highest of tiers. The reason why is because that I looked at Honne in her current state and understood that she’s still a young girl, 15 to be exact, so she’s still maturing, she’s still working out who she is. I think that as she gets older, Honne would drop a little bit of that childish side of her, probably drop wearing the kigurumi, at least not wearing it all the time. But she would still retain that infectious positivity that she has and mix that with a much more mature, responsible older woman. And that idea to me, is so goddamn attractive to me.

So that’s this week’s edition of Waifu, FWB, or One-Night Stand, hope you enjoyed it! Leave any comments you’ve got below, whether it’s your own choices between the three or maybe I’m missing something that could’ve turned the tide on my decision with any one of these girls.
