Waifu, FWB or One-Night Stand? #43

It’s week #43 of Waifu, Friend With Benefits or One-Night Stand!

For those new to the article, this is not a post that talks about the “fuckability” of three randomly selected female characters from various anime and video games. I’m already attracted to them, it’s to be implied that I would share a bed with them already. What this article is meant to do, is go through their personalities, interests, anything pertinent to answering the question if they’re a one-time only, a friend that I might accept the occasional booty call from, or someone I would absolutely spend the rest of my life with.

So without further to do, let’s meet this week’s contestants!

Kicking off this week is the blue-haired succubus vixen who while wants you so, sooo bad…she’s still a virgin and is actually a lot more innocent than you’d expect, from Rosario + Vampire, it’s Kurumu Kurono!

In the beginning, she’s your typical succubus, seducing men and hypnotizing them to gain control over them. But when she meets the main character in Tsukune and especially after he saves her from the dangerous “Inner” Moka, she changes her ways a bit. Instead of using and abusing her powers to gain people’s affection, she intends to make Tsukune love her naturally. And given how there is no one more confident in her body than Kurumu, she uses every other trick in the book to pull that off, constantly dressing in revealing attire, pushing her breasts up against him, things like that. But in reality, she wants to win without her powers and when questioned about her methods being very unnatural for a succubus, she gets all flustered. She’s a teenager in love, what’d you expect?

With her friends, at times Kurumu looks like she’s a selfish, arrogant girl, but that’s just the outer shell of her. Once you really pay attention, you find that she is actually a very kind and caring girl for her friends, even though they’re pretty much all rivals for Tsukune’s love. Even the girl she knows he has eyes for, she can’t bring herself to hate her, she wishes she could, but the bond the two girls share, along with the bonds she has with the other girls as well, she views them almost like sisters.

And here’s my call for Kurumu:

Assuming she’s not cheating and using her powers on me, I think the true Kurumu is a much better person than she’s comes off as in the early going. After watching the entire series, it’s very obvious where this girl truly lies and that’s as a close friend, one I can talk to about anything and everything, someone who truly wants the best for me and is willing to help out whenever she can. And well…she’s also a close friend who’s constantly trying to vy for my affection and does so by undressing and pushing her boobs against me constantly. But a close friend, nonetheless…

Second up is the girl who loved facing her back to the camera so much I actually had to have a weekly “Yume Butt Counter” whenever I was reviewing a week of anime episodes, from Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash, it’s Yume!

The archer of the group, Yume is a very brave and energetic girl, usually the happy face of the group, the one who keeps everyone as cheery as possible, which given the depressing nature of the anime is certainly a tall task if there ever was one. She’s very outgoing and friendly with everyone, despite the toxic relationships between other members and certainly with how negative a few of them are all the time, especially a certain asshole who calls her a “boobless woman” constantly, even though she has breasts (small, but they’re there) and one of the best butts in all of anime, it’s not like she’s not packing something for anyone attracted to women to look at! Lastly, she’s a strong girl when it comes to her emotions. After loss, she manages to be the one to hold it together the most, though it still does affect her a lot, she’s just able to keep the happy face on the best and try to push through it.

I don’t have much else on Yume, so here goes:

I fell in love with Yume almost right from the very start of the anime. She has that quirky, cute small girl look to her that I’m just a sucker for AND on top of that, she’s got red hair. So she’s already got me going before I even take a look at her personality. In the end, she more than passes that test as well, being a constant positive and full of life, a trait I will never bore of in girls. It’s plain as day to me that this girl away from the context of the anime and it’s depressive story, Yume is a massive ray of light and that’s the kind of girl I want in my life.

Finishing off this week’s edition is the daughter of the tech mogul in the game and a girl who has a real skill in misunderstanding situations where her breasts gets squeezed, from Trails of Cold Steel, it’s Alisa Reinford!

At first glance, Alisa is your typical rebellious girl character that comes from a rich family, she’s got that posh, self-centered aura about her, but is also quick to judge, takes everything very over-the-top and displays a lot of the traditional anime “tsundere” tropes on top of all that. She’s a bit of a hot-head and like I said, she easily misunderstands things and holds long-ass grudges over them, regardless of whether the person she’s mad at actually did anything wrong. With her personality being as vulnerable as it is, she flusters very easily, especially in the first game where she’s given the task of rooming with boys at one point and then every single time a family member or her maid, Sharon appears. She’s a walking blush machine at times.

Alisa is an extremely independent girl, more than capable of handling herself. She could’ve just eased back the seat and lived comfortably in her family home, but her determination to cut out her own path superseded that in spades, running away from home just to enroll in Thors Military Academy where the game is set. Her ideology is far different from her mother’s, the president of the Reinford Corporation, a tech and weapons manufacturer. It’s clear Alisa believes that while producing weapons isn’t terrible, making weapons of mass destruction like the railway guns at Garrellia Fortress.

The most pertinent thing about Alisa that she tries to hide, is her clear love and care for her family, regardless of how she feels about her mother (father passed away, cause y’know, Japan and dead parents…) in the present day. She only wants to see her mother happy again and fears she’s going to work herself to death and leave Alisa completely alone. She is capable of being close with outside people as well, having close to a sisterly relationship with her maid, Sharon.

Alrighty, here’s my call on Alisa:

There are some tsundere characters that are more than capable of capturing my attention, but in the two Trails of Cold Steel games thus far, while I don’t necessarily hate Alisa, she really hasn’t shown me much for me to take her seriously in a relationship capacity, especially when there are a ton of other girls in the series that are doing a far better job at just that. The first impression I had of her was awful, especially when it became obvious that the game was pushing this as the most likely shipping with the main character, Rean. Generally when games and especially anime push a particular relationship in a potential harem, that character is almost always the most unlikable. In Alisa’s case, she just comes off too bitchy the majority of the time and honestly her look doesn’t separate her from other girls either. There’s just nothing memorable about her that’s positive.

So that’s this week’s edition of Waifu, FWB, or One-Night Stand, hope you enjoyed it! Leave any comments you’ve got below, whether it’s your own choices between the three or maybe I’m missing something that could’ve turned the tide on my decision with any one of these girls.
