Saturday Morning Rant: Let’s Maybe Not Film Everything…

As WWE Superstar, Paige is learning, this age of cell phones, texting, images, videos, all of it is easy to find, steal and post online for all of the world to see, regardless of how personal and how private they are.

How many times have we heard about leaked sex tapes, leaked nude photos, all that jazz? It happens all the time with celebrities, hell we had that massive leak a couple years ago of a ton of celebrities that became hilariously known as The Fappening. It’s no surprise anymore that people are getting stuff hacked or stolen and posted online without their permission, whether it’s nudes, masturbation or even sexual intercourse. In Paige’s case, all three got posted recently after her phone was hacked (or stolen) and the images and videos were posted online.

Now I do have sympathy for Saraya-Jade Bevis, better known as Paige. These photos and videos were stolen and posted without her permission. There is nothing okay about this kind of content being posted without the person’s permission, no ifs ands or buts. However, there is no denying the fact that this was all completely unavoidable, especially at the level of some of these videos.

I don’t understand this craze of both men and women taking nude selfies and recording videos of themselves either masturbating or having sex with another person or more. I understand that for some people it’s a fetish of being filmed and that sort of thing, but for the average girl let’s say, ESPECIALLY TEENAGE GIRLS, I’m constantly shocked on how uneducated and uninformed they are of the potential of these private photos and videos getting out online. We’ve seen that it’s not limited to celebrities, average kids are having this happen to them too and I’m not talking 18+ either. There are a ton of cases where high school girls and sometimes even younger are passed around and put up online, which by the way is child pornography and on an even bigger factual note, it doesn’t matter if you are a 15 year-old boy and have 15 year-old girlfriend, if you have a picture of her naked, you are in possession of child porn, that’s bad enough. If you pass it around, just think about it for a second what that could possibly mean. It’s not pretty, folks.

So in the case of Paige, regardless of who she is, there should be a sense of responsibility and awareness of what was going on. And it’s only heightened even further by the fact she is a celebrity, she should know better and should be aware of what’s going on. We live in a time where so much is passed around online and the second it’s there, it doesn’t matter how quickly it’s deleted, it’s there…and it will always be there. It doesn’t matter who you are, you need to be aware that whatever you create now has the potential of being posted online.

So be aware, folks. If you’re going to do anything of this level, for the love of god think twice about it. And then think about it a third time, because why the hell do you need to film yourself having sex with someone? How about just enjoying the sex? That works just fine!
