Welcome to TMTW, aka “Too Much To Write”, the one in a blue moon article when there’s too many things I want to write about and don’t want to separate them into separate articles over a set of days, because it’ll take too damn long! This won’t be a very frequent event, it’ll more often than not happen because I’m away for a bit and miss a bunch of news, or if there’s a bunch of stories that I don’t want to spend 1000 words on writing, because I’d be BS’ing through all of it.
So let’s not waste anymore time and get to three stories I’m a bit behind on:
So the SNES Classic is a thing, Nintendo finally announced it. I’m so shocked. It’ll be much like the NES Classic and will come with 21 games pre-loaded onto it:
- Contra III: The Alien Wars
- Donkey Kong Country
- Final Fantasy III
- Kirby Super Star
- Kirby’s Dream Course
- The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
- Mega Man X
- Secret of Mana
- Star Fox
- Star Fox 2
- Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
- Super Castlevania IV
- Super Ghouls ’n Ghosts
- Super Mario Kart
- Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
- Super Mario World
- Super Metroid
- Super Punch-Out!!
- Yoshi’s Island
Now don’t get me wrong, the list is fantastic, you’re not going to get much better than that (without including Chrono Trigger, how the fucking hell is Chrono Trigger not on this?!) but there’s a bigger issue I take with it.
I said countless times when the NES Classic got discontinued that if the fans truly were upset, don’t get sucked into the inevitable SNES Classic reveal and completely forget about the prior negative event. And what has happened now? NOBODY IS TALKING ABOUT HOW IDIOTIC NINTENDO WAS FOR CANCELLING THE NES CLASSIC!!!
We’re back to “OH MY GOD, I LOVE YOU, NINTENDO!!!” fanboyism, proving once again that if there is any company that could kill children in front of all us and we’d still forgive them, it’s Nintendo. I said back in April over Twitter that if you truly were upset at Nintendo for the NES Classic being taken away from you, then act by not buying the SNES Classic when it would get revealed. Instead, all these people who claimed to be upset about one machine no longer existing, they’re okay now that a different machine is out. It’s hypocritical action at its finest.
Now don’t get me wrong, the SNES Classic is a far better collection than the NES Classic ever could hope to be, I’d argue that the SNES is the greatest video game console ever. But all this reveal has done for me, is remind me of the fact that we as humans are way too easily swayed and forget moments of anger way too quickly.
It’s been two months and you’ve forgotten about the downright insulting way Nintendo treated its customer base. Congratulations!
…It’s a shame it’s characters I don’t care about though.
“Ylissean Summer” contains four characters from the Awakening universe, that being Robin (female ver.), Tiki, Gaius and Frederick. Gaius makes sense, he was in the Summer of Bonds DLC on the original game, but I have to ask Nintendo…REALLY? ROBIN AND FREDERICK?!!! Where’s Tharja?! Chrom?! What the fuck, man?!
I’ve actually made the decision to still hang onto the orbs I’ve stockpiled and hope this isn’t the only set of swimsuit characters. I would imagine there’s more, since there’s more than just the Awakening universe. Who wouldn’t want Lyn or Serra in a bikini?
But seriously Nintendo, how dare you put in Robin and not Tharja. I am offended!
Last but not least, Mass Effect: Andromeda. Oh how far you’ve fallen my former favourite game series.
I’ve still yet to actually play through Andromeda, I got as far as starting to help out the new race of allies you gain early on and after that I grew bored with it, plus Persona 5 came out. But I was shocked to hear the recent news that the game is getting zero single-player DLC. That truly tells you just how bad Andromeda got received and continues to piss me off that the terribly run team is the reason my favourite series is now being put on the shelf for a while, perhaps permanently.
But then again, if this is the future of the series, then fine, get rid of it. I don’t want to be disappointed again.
That’s all I’ve got, thanks for checking out this quick response to a few news stories I didn’t have a crazy long opinion on, but wanting to get my thoughts out on. Don’t forget to comment below on what you think of these stories. Keep the conversation going!
