Week #9 – Fall Anime 2017

Week #9 has arrived with the Fall anime season. What’s in store this week?!

Just like every week, I’ll be watching my selected shows for the season and giving my brief feelings on the episode, along with things I liked and things I didn’t like. So let’s get a’watchin’!

***WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW!!!***

Blend-S (Ep.9)

THOUGHTS

Y’know, now that Hideri’s here, I totally forgot we hadn’t seen that dog yet! Sure enough, there he is! Even better, “Owner” may have created the funniest moment I’ve seen all year in anime, trying to get Dino to wake up and take him for a walk by threatening the damage of his treasured anime figurine. I paused and laughed for a good minute from that moment. The rest of the episode was the usual good level I’ve come to expect from the show, though I will admit the second half with Maika’s sister visiting the restaurant fell a little flat.

THE GOOD

  • Owner rounds out the entire cast
  • Possibly the funniest moment all year in this episode

THE BAD

  • Second half fell flat

Episode Score: 4/5

Code:Realize: Sousei no Himegimi (Ep.9)

THOUGHTS

Well it’s time for the emotional dialogue for 20 minutes filler episode of the show. Not a whole lot, just setting up for the final three episodes. The lone interesting thing is now the vial of poison Saint has given Cardia, it makes me about 75/25 that she’ll use it to foil Finis’ plans in the end. But otherwise, there just really wasn’t much going on and the emotional stuff from Cardia wasn’t that strong.

THE GOOD

  • Interest with the poison vial

THE BAD

  • Nothing at all going on
  • Emotional dialogue didn’t resonate

Episode Score: 2.5/5

Garo: Vanishing Line (Ep.9)

THOUGHTS

Well what’d ya know? Actual lives not only were lost, but they make note of it as well, there’s no bullshitting here. This entire episode was purely filler for the travel from the city to what will likely be the end point of the show. Not much to speak of, minus the long trail of mourning Sophie does, which eventually breaks her towards the end of the episode as she lets it all out. Emotional, heartfelt, but not much going on otherwise.

THE GOOD

  • Emotional moments from Sophie

THE BAD

  • Nothing really happened in the episode, just filler

Episode Score: 3.5/5

Imouto sae Ireba Ii. (Ep.9)

THOUGHTS

Well this episode was extremely risque and inappropriate…

…So it was the best episode ever, right? The entire episode was about whether nudity or underwear is better than the other. I mean, the real correct answer is all off the fucking above, but I’ll put my two cents in. Underwear gets the edge because your imagination takes over to finish the ending sequence, while nudity does all the work for you, leaves no room for imagination.

But yeah, the episode was super entertaining, super funny and yes, super sexy. What more could I ask for? Oh right, Chihiro wasn’t part of the naked festivities.

THE GOOD

  • Hilarious and full of ecchi, nothing more one could ask for

THE BAD

  • Lack of Chihiro butt (minus five stars for that!!!)

Episode Score: 5/5

Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World (Ep.9)

THOUGHTS

This episode was going so well until they wasted the last bit with a country where your memories there are erased when you leave. I’m sorry but that wasn’t interesting at all, it came off like filler, like they didn’t know what to do with the remaining five or so minutes. The rest of the episode was all right, but that end bit left a sour taste in my mouth.

THE GOOD

  • Good mix of both main characters

THE BAD

  • The forgotten memories country was a waste of time, really bad filler

Episode Score: 3.5/5

Konohana Kitan (Ep.9)

THOUGHTS

AAAAAWAAAAAAAA!!! Oh my god that episode was freaking cute! The first bit with the turtle was a little funny, but it wasn’t until Awanami showed up where things really went crazy and adorable as all hell. Everyone had a role to play whether it’s Yuzu and Ren, Natsume and Kiri, hell even Okiku got some good screen time in this one. A lot to love in this episode.

THE GOOD

  • Cute as fuck!
  • Everyone got a good turn in this episode

THE BAD

  • Nothing to complain about this week

Episode Score: 4.5/5

Net-juu no Susume (Ep.9)

THOUGHTS

It’s finally happening. Holy crap, they’re actually gonna pull it off properly. One episode to go and we’re right there, the two are together in Yuuta’s apartment, they are fully aware of their long history together, hell they’ve even been teased by people wondering if they’re together. I was worried they were going to go the best friends route, but the closer we got to the end of this episode, the more I’m thinking “They’re…they’re actually going to pull the trigger!!!”, because as many anime watchers know, Japan doesn’t seem to like having relationships in their shows, because they like having all their cast members single, so people can dream about marrying them. But here, it’s actually going to happen!

THE GOOD

  • It’s…it’s gonna happen!!!
  • Unbelievably cute and adorable to watch

THE BAD

  • Not a damn thing to complain about this week

Episode Score: 5/5

Osake wa Fuufu ni Natte kara (Ep.9)

THOUGHTS

Hugs are the cure for everything apparently. I won’t argue. Nice little episode with a silly little gimmick in that a 30-second hug makes anyone happy and it goes from person to person.

THE GOOD

  • Adorable premise

THE BAD

  • Nothing to complain about this week

Episode Score: 4/5

Shokugeki no Souma: San no Sara (Ep.9) *On Notice*

THOUGHTS

I’m not talking about this show anymore until the arc is over. It’s back to everything I hated about the start of it and now there’s four more idiots they’ve brought in. The show is losing its appeal with me and while I will finish this season and maybe talk about the whole season when I do my season end video, I’m done giving an arc this bad time here.

I don’t hate the show by the way, just this arc. And I don’t want to talk about it anymore.

THE GOOD

  • Isshiki making Hisako and Erina crazy
  • Alice and Ryo entering the frame

THE BAD

  • Everything else is so bad, I’m tired of talking about this arc that’s pissing me off as much as it has been

Episode Score: 2/5 ***DROPPED (Still going to watch on own time)***
