Milim: Leaving The First Season Behind…So We Can Stare At Her Behind

Just felt like I needed to make a quick note of something, because holy freaking hell!

So That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime entered its second half of the season here during the winter season. The first half was quite a ride, chalk full of comedy, insanity, badass battles and death. Yep, a lot more death than I thought we’d get in a show like this (see Shizu’s backstory). But I loved that first half and couldn’t wait to get through the second.

The show’s gone through some changes in that we’re in a period of calm before the storm. Characters are being introduced, some have transformed (I’m actually not happy about the lizardmen just being changed to human, Souka especially, she looked really unique) and for the most part, the show has resumed back to being a very comedic show.

Then this happens.

That’s literally our first introduction to Milim. Massive butt crack, not even sure how her bottoms are even hanging there. Now to preface this entire post, let me get one thing straight, I absolutely adore Milim, she in one episode quickly shot up the charts on my list of favourite characters this season, let alone on this show. She’s what I enjoy, full of energy, random as fuck, can change her emotions on the fly and has a great voice actress behind her.

But holy fucking Charlotte Dunois that butt!

Naturally, the memes are spreading, people are writing article after article, tweet after tweet, post after post about “how pathetic it is that anime needs characters like this to appease their disgusting male audience”, about how Milim looks like an underage girl, which yes, she looks like one and yes, they use the “she’s thousands of years old” trope, which I get why people think is cheap and ridiculous, but most importantly, about her lack of skin-covering bottoms.

So look, I’ll defer to my usual opinion on the matter, which is meh! Considering how much worse some shows can get (and yes, I enjoyed several of them, UzaMaid, Eromanga-sensei, Ryuuou no Oshigoto, etc.), this is barely landing a dent in what we normally see. Not to mention, this show has long told you before this 16th episode that sex was going to play a part, see Shion, hell, see Haruna, the female goblin from the very beginning of the show. So if Milim is putting you off this show, I’m going go on a limb here and say you weren’t watching this show at this point anyways, so resume not watching this show, I guess?

I know this is hard for some people, but I honestly could care less about how “sexy” a character is, that’s what hentai is for. Sure, I watch harems and yes, I do pay attention to how the girls look, but in the end, I’m more interested in her personality than anything else. For example, my favourite harem is still Infinite Stratos and my favourite character in Charlotte Dunois. She’s not even top 3 in looks on that show (in case you’re wondering, it’s Chifuyu at the top, followed by Houki and then Cecilia), but it’s her personality that really shines and puts her over the rest.

So in Milim’s case, while yes it is blatantly obvious she’s not wearing pants and is really wearing dental floss level bottoms, given how her butt looks at certain times on the show, what’s really going to make her so memorable is her pure insanity that is clearly going to be put on display in further episodes.

And I’m gonna love every moment of it. Also, I really want this damn figure now.

The Promised Neverland: A Proper Shocking First Episode

If there was ever a moment of validation for me only watching anime and not getting into manga or light novels as well, the first episode of The Promised Neverland certainly was one of them. Much like School-Live! did for me when that show came out, having no knowledge of the anime going into that first episode, it really puts those closing moments into a higher gear. I imagine that it’s the same for people when they read the manga or light novel of the same series, but I’m an animation guy and I’ve never been much of a reader, so there you go.

It’s very rare for an anime to pull this stunt successfully on me during its first episode. In fact, the aforementioned School-Live! is the only one that comes to mind at this point. Some shows may have done it, but the atmosphere made it more obvious that something was coming, and other shows have done it in a comedic way, but I’m not here to talk about those shows. I’m talking shocking as in “HOLY FUCK, MAN!!!” kind of shocking. The ones that make me go “I…I need to watch a really funny show now…” after the episode ends. And this show, it certainly did that.

And now, you’ve been warned…

***WARNING!!! MASSIVE

SPOILERS BELOW!!!***

Obviously I knew something was up with the show. How could you not be suspicious? The entire premise before the very end is that they’re “orphans” with numbers printed on their necks, living in an orphanage where their physical and mental abilities are being constantly tested and they’re told on a consistent basis that they cannot leave the property. What? I don’t see anything suspicious going on here!

Initially however, my theories were different to the end result. I figured with all the training, that these kids were being bred for battle, for military or mercenary usage. It’s kind of like how Xianming Lin’s character in Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens was, he was taken at a young age and bred to be an assassin. Maybe some kids would be assassins, some would be master hackers, who knows, but I figured it was a military or terrorist thing, rather than what we got.

Granted, when Conny was selected to leave, I wasn’t sure how that fit in my theory, so the questions started flooding. Maybe she belonged to a rich family or a powerful political figure, so she would be used as blackmail. Maybe she was being released as someone paid for her freedom. Then you go down the darker roads, maybe she caught the eye of someone in the organization who has a very disgusting sexual preference. Or worst case scenario, she was showing terrible results long enough that they decided her to be useless and she was being shipped off for slavery, or even worse, death.

Well, that latter idea turned out to be right…in a way…

As soon as Emma peeked into the back of that truck and had that “OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!” look in her eyes, I knew. Conny was dead and I was about to see something that wasn’t going to be pretty. Sure enough, good lord that picture is haunting. I’m staring at it right now as I’m typing this and I want to finish this article faster, just so I don’t have to look at it anymore.

This is a straight case of a show that sucked me in and even though it’s horrifying, I can’t back out now, I’m too interested. It’s a lot like ERASED with its violence, and shows like Your Lie In April where I know I’m in for a depressing, saddening story, but I’m already invested, so I’m stuck with the inevitable pain now. The Promised Neverland has my attention and even though this moment of finding Conny’s dead body made my stomach turn, it’s too late, they got me.

But then the alien angle gets brought in and we discover that I was way off. This isn’t a military or terrorist breeding camp, no no no. It’s a fucking human farm. Aliens are eating kids. Oh dear. Now at this point, it doesn’t explain the constant intelligence training, what’s the purpose of that? If they’re just using us as food, why not just fatten all the kids up, right? So there’s more to come and despite my better judgment, I’ll be sticking around to see what that is.

I mentioned in the excerpt to this article how this show did a shocking first episode the right way, while Goblin Slayer did the opposite. So here’s why. Goblin Slayer gives you no reason to like any of the four party members that go into that cave. And yes, I’m including Priestess. Also, they pull the trigger way too soon, there was no successful battles, no important dialogue between the four, nothing to grasp onto. So when that brutal murder and rape scene came, there was no value to it, it was just edgy shocking for the sake of being edgy shocking.

With The Promised Neverland however, you had time to meet everyone in the main cast, start to pick who you liked, all that lovely jazz. You had enough time to digest the world you were starting to watch, not to mention develop ideas of the mystery that was going on. There were characters to attach to and hypotheses to check and see if you were right.

So when the moment came, you were all in. I was all in. And bloody fucking hell was it a shocker.

Week # 11 – Fall Anime 2018

Week # 11 has arrived with the 2018 summer anime season. What’s in store this week?!

Just like every week, I’ll be watching my selected shows for the season and giving my brief feelings on the episode, along with things I liked and things I didn’t like. So let’s get a’watchin’!

***WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW!!!***

Radiant (Ep.11)

THOUGHTS

  • Zoned out, that’s a first for this show!
  • They’re finally going out and doing quests, which means we’re finally seeing some arcs forming. Grimm being the first to really have a mystique about them.
  • I’m shocked during all this, pissed off Melie didn’t come out, especially when Mister Boobrie was smacking the shit out of her.

Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai (Ep.11)

THOUGHTS

  • The progress with Sakuta and Mai’s relationship is super adorable. They’re such a good couple.Kaede’s finally making progress! That line though, “whoever marries Big Brother will get Kaede too.”, that’s hilarious. Cause y’know there’s weebs who would go gay just for a shot at Kaede.
  • [14:10] Are those markings on Kaede new, or the old ones resurfacing?
  • [21:10] I don’t remember if I have all year, but if that’s the case, this is the first time I’ve near-cried all year. Why did something so trivial work here? Because they played the scenario for 11 episodes and made every character important, lovable and gave enough rope for us to attach ourselves to and become a part of it.
  • However, our journey with her isn’t over. An old classmate appears and Kaede doesn’t remember her. That’s when Sakuta tells us that along with all the horrible markings Kaede got, it’s very likely her version of Puberty Syndrome erased her memories of those years, because they were so hard on her.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Ep.11)

THOUGHTS

  • Naturally two girls have to fight over a slime who transforms into a genderless (though feminine) human. And of course one of them is bad at cooking.
  • I’m loving Gabiru way too much.
  • Gobta can now go Super Saiyan so he doesn’t have to eat Shion’s cooking.
  • So it appears that at least for now, the goal is to kill the Orc Lord. I imagine with us only being at the halfway point, this won’t be the rest of the series, rather a stepping stone to the Demon Lord that affected Shizu.

UzaMaid! (Ep.11)

THOUGHTS

  • That’s not fair, showing Misha and her mother together. They’re so cute that it once again makes me hate the dead parent trope.
  • I actually enjoyed Yui this episode. They relaxed a little bit on her annoying shenanigans.
  • So was Misha legit going to throw her two friends aside because they accidentally went in her mother’s room? Sensing that, Tsubame took the hit for them? Real talk, why didn’t Misha get some therapy after her mom passed? It’s not like they couldn’t afford it.

Radiant (Ep.10)

THOUGHTS

  • [05:10] Can’t have a shounen anime without rich snobs claiming to be the best at something.
  • So he sucks at magic, but racing? He’s fine.
  • I’m truly wondering if that debt is ever going to go away.
  • I guess we’re finally getting Halloween Face aka Grimm next week. All right, a real fight!

Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai (Ep.10)

THOUGHTS

  • Zoned out again. This show’s really good at doing that.
  • It feels almost sacrilege seeing Kaede sans panda pajamas, doesn’t it?
  • So basically the two of them simultaneously wanted to be the other out of jealous or envy? That’s…convenient.
  • I feel like them transforming literally hours after the ultimate “fuck you” moment in Mai being the one to get Nodoka’s mom to smile, it was a bit of an early switch flip. Should’ve gone one more episode, I think.
  • The sound when they transformed back to their proper selves was kinda gross.
  • Well shit, looks like Japan TMZ found Mai’s boyfriend.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Ep.10)

THOUGHTS

  • Zoned out again.
  • I’m unsure whether the orcs being named and turning half-human is a good or a bad change to their look. Though I will admit, Benimaru looks pretty damn sexy now…
  • The Lizardmen all look fine except for that one girl. The hell were they trying to draw here?!
  • I’m curious if the named Lizardman is potentially a human soul. They certainly gave time to his inner thoughts and he has a pretty distinct personality.

UzaMaid! (Ep.10)

THOUGHTS

  • It continues to annoy me that such a funny show has to run a dead parent angle as well. Seeing the depression on Yasuhiro really isn’t fun.
  • She sure is a dumb kid at times, eh? Doesn’t help when Yasuhiro spoils her like he does.
  • [18:09] WHY IS SHE MONOLOGUING TO THE BEAR?!!!

My Sister, My Writer (Ep.7)

THOUGHTS

  • It’s very obvious that with the problems the show is having, the quality is dropping even further.
  • I think at this point too, I’m already drawn towards dropping the show, as the episodes have been getting worse and the stink around the show is prevalent.
  • As this episode comes to a close, nothing changed. Though I’m not sure there’s anything this show could’ve done to save itself. The content just isn’t there, the initial interest I had is gone now that they’ve shown they had nothing in their hand. Shame.

Radiant (Ep.9)

THOUGHTS

  • It was nice to see how Dragunov isn’t a total villain and is actually pretty likable, especially compared to other Inquisitors.
  • See…now the next time they all face off again, I won’t know who to cheer for.
  • I know I didn’t write much, but I really enjoyed this episode.

Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai (Ep.9)

THOUGHTS

  • Completely zoned out of typing for this review.
  • I really identified with this episode. The whole “my sibling gets more praise than me” angle really hit hard with me.
  • The show keeps finding unique problems that I don’t expect. Mai disappearing, time not passing, two Futabas, now body switching.
  • I wonder what’s in that cabinet…

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Ep.9)

THOUGHTS

  • I got completely lost in the episode that I forgot to write anything here as it was happening.
  • We’re starting to see the extent of Rimuru’s power, yet I feel like we’re nowhere near serious Rimuru yet. I don’t think he’s even remotely tapped into Veldora’s power yet.
  • The scene where Rimuru was checking out his body double may be the funniest moment all season.
  • Based on the cover image, I imagine the ogres are the other key piece of the party with Rimuru. Basically the entire picture is Rimuru, Shizu, goblins and ogres.

Interest – 5/5 | Writing – 4/5 | Design – 5/5 | Comedy – 5/5 | Action – 4/5

UzaMaid! (Ep.9)

THOUGHTS

  • Well, we know Kumagoro values his life more than Misha’s, leaving her when that maid could strike.
  • ISN’T TSUBAME A GODDAMN JSDF SOLDIER?!!! I was sure she’d just find him instantly.
  • Ah, so it was Yui’s sister that took him.
  • Then the second half is Yui-central as well. Booooooo.

Merc StoriA: The Apathetic Boy and the Girl in a Bottle (Ep.7)

THOUGHTS

  • I should’ve put the show on notice last week, but I’ll say it now, if this arc is just as boring by the end as the last one was, I’m dropping the show. It can’t be this boring two times in a row and get away with it now.
  • I think what really has done this show no favours is that it had such a good start with really interesting and fun characters and then brushed them aside as they moved to a new arc. Meneraiah through the fairy arc, the mayor that turned out to be a boy in I believe the second episode, they were fun to watch and then they all left. Since the fairy arc, each episode fails to deliver the same feeling and especially hasn’t produced a single character I’ve remotely gravitated towards.
  • I’ll be honest here. The main cast does almost nothing and that’s why the great side characters really pushed the show. Yuu is boring, Merc gets old really quick. Toto is cute, but a mascot character doesn’t drive a show. The main cast isn’t much to begin with, so when the side characters are even worse, the show is held to the lowest quality possible.
  • A show like 18if had a similar setup. The main character wasn’t interesting at all, it was the short arcs and characters within them that pushed things forward. This show managed to do that for the first few episodes, but now it has not only failed, but failed tremendously. I honestly don’t have any drive to watch the show, it’s more like I’m forcing myself to do it. So you know what that means…

Radiant (Ep.8)

THOUGHTS

  • God damn it, those dumbass sorcerers are back. The Bravery Quartet.
  • And their underwear is magical? Of course it is.
  • So we learn the reason Seth power isn’t working properly is because he thinks his gloves are where his Fantasia gathers, when in reality, he’s one of few who uses his bare hands, thus labeled a heretic. So Alma protected him by giving him gloves to wear.
  • Poor Doc. I’d feel sorry for him, but he’s kinda a bit of a prick…

Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai (Ep.8)

THOUGHTS

  • We’re gonna need a Futaba bath counter at this rate…
  • Why is it always raining heavily when you need to chase after someone?
  • It’s amusing watching both Futabas say there’s only room for one of them, when it’s so obvious that they are each half of one Futaba. One leaving would eliminate part of what makes her special.
  • [21:52] I thought she was calling Kunimi, not herself. Damn that came out of nowhere.
  • So with Futaba done now, I imagine we’re now back to Shoko? I’m already guessing the last few episodes will deal with Kaede, as her problem isn’t gone either.
  • [Post-Credits] Who the fuck is the blonde girl?!

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Ep.8)

THOUGHTS

  • [11:50] WAIT?! DID SHIZU JUST FUCKING DIE OUT OF NOWHERE?!!!
  • Well, Rimuru’s got his human form now.
  • I will admit, it’s a little bit of a throw off how emotional the three adventurers are about Shizu. For all we know, they’ve known each other about a week at most.
  • We basically had an entire episode that ended the life and then mourned a character we’ve known for what? 3-4 episodes? Don’t get me wrong, I like Shizu, but this is the type of episode you throw for a character who has been around a loooooooooooooot longer.
  • So…new villain? Can’t say I have any reason to have feelings about him.

THOUGHTS

  • We got robbed from having swimsuit Tsubame and Midori…
  • I knew Tsubame somehow had Misha’s underwear. No one’s getting close enough to stealing those under her watch.
  • Now Tsubame’s missing underwear, I was sure it was Midorin. But the hamsters being the culprits was definitely funnier.

THOUGHTS

  • There’s no doubt this silver-haired boy talking to them is dead. He did say “It’s been so long since I’ve talked to someone.” after all.
  • I’m getting mad 18if vibes from this episode. Granted, I don’t think the overwhelming darkness of that show will be present here.
  • I’m not getting the symbolism, nor the message the show’s trying to deliver here…

THOUGHTS

  • [1:12] Hahahahaha! She thought he legit loved her!
  • Ah, the cliche “Bitch rival challenges newcomer to competition where if newcomer loses, they give up” situation. Gee, I wonder how it’ll end? Of course Suzuka will lose and the show will end four episodes early.
  • [13:01] …Suzuka is going to be really, REALLY fucked up when she finally has her first time…whether it’s with Yuu or not.
  • Admittedly, the show’s getting to a point where it’s dragging along. It has good days and this day was okay, but the second half just plain ol’ sucked. The entire school festival was just awful.
  • I know it’s only four episodes to go, but the show really needs to be careful, I’ve got a history dropping shows just before the end out of sheer frustration.

THOUGHTS

  • With Shoko still being a 7th grader and not aging the same as Sakuta, I’m learning now not to get too guessy with these plotlines, because they’re so hard to figure out. For now, we’ll just see what happens.
  • THE HELL?! TWO FUTABAS?!!!
  • So are Futaba and Shoko potentially experiencing the same phenomena? Just Shoko has a younger version?
  • [21:38] Why did Kaede just freak out because of a phone ring?
  • I’m not sure what’s going on just yet, but one could assume it’s just Futaba’s manifestation of what she thinks Kunimi would be attracted to, for him to want to go out with her. As for Shoko, I have no idea yet. They haven’t shown their hand at all with her.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Ep.7)

THOUGHTS

  • [05:35] WHAT THE FUCK, DUDE!!! THEY JUST HAD SHIZU KILL A CHILD!!! I don’t care Leon made her do it, that’s fucking not cool!
  • Once again, can we stop it with anime playing a more casual, funny game for a period of time AND THE SUDDENLY GETTING SUPER VIOLENT AND EDGY?!!!
  • I do not care if this is supposed to push the villain at us, they could’ve done it without murdering that child. Perhaps Pizu, the monster, but the child? Absolutely uncalled for.
  • -1 point for unnecessary child murder. And an extra -1 point for doing this 7 episodes into a show that has basically been absolutely positive and happy until now.
  • I love how Rimuru is extra pissed cause all the buildings got burned just after all the work they did.
  • As expected, even Ifrit isn’t much of a challenge. To be fair, he’s usually one of the first Final Fantasy summons. He can’t be THAT powerful, right?
  • So with Ifrit imprisoned, would this mean that Shizu is no longer under its control? Does she even have the ability to fight anymore, especially with her fire attacks?

  • Standard beach episode stuff, y’know, sunscreen, walking in on showers afterwards, all that jazz. I know it’s intentional, but man it’s way too cliche.
  • Mai actually stepped it up a notch this week. Her swimsuit still sucked, but that moment with her at night in just a long shirt? Damn…
  • Also, Ahegao wins swimsuit contest #2. She’s the only one you’d consider to be “hot” that time.
  • Really? A writer never thought to “become” the character before?

Radiant (Ep.6)

THOUGHTS

  • [4:49] No reason to show a mark on her leg, eh? Can’t have anything to do with her curse or anything…
  • Of course Melba’s puppet is her father. Why wouldn’t it be?!
  • Naturally it makes sense that they need pissed off Melie to teach Seth.
  • Well, Yaga’s gonna be Alma 2.0 for Seth. How many whacks to the head per episodes will he give, I wonder?
  • [21:54] I can’t help but see a tiny hint of romantic interest from Melie…

Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai (Ep.6)

THOUGHTS

  • [6:15] I’m pre-calling it now, since seeing the TV with the date again, the time loop is about to begin again, once the two “break up”.
  • YUP! There it is.
  • I don’t think Tomoe’s lying, she’s acting perfectly in sync. Even a great actor can’t do that.
  • Oh she is lying? How could she possibly re-enact everything to a tee? I mean, I’m not shocked that she in the end fell for him, but still, I’m hard-pressed to think both could act so well.
  • Tomoe really hit me hard there at the end, crying because she knew she couldn’t win against Mai. Give the writers credit for pulling this arc off, because it wouldn’t have worked at an emotional level for me if Tomoe wasn’t so easy to like. If she was a bit of a brat, I’d only be happy that her arc is ending. Instead, this arc ends perfectly with me feeling extremely sorry for her.
  • I DID NOT EXPECT THEM TO GO BACK ALL THE WAY TO THE BEGINNING!!!
  • -1 point for the inability for me to believe both Tomoe and Sakuta could repeat lines verbatim and act perfectly in sync to days gone by beforehand. NOTE: This would’ve been an A+ episode had I not been so annoyed with this. A real shame, because the writing of this arc was so damn good.
  • Even weirder, every day repeated the same way after that, just without the lie with Tomoe.
  • Is there something about this Shoko girl? If we saw her already, I’ve forgotten.
  • *Google searches…* OHHHHHHHHHHH!!! HIS FIRST CRUSH!!! I FORGOT ABOUT THAT!!!

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Ep.6)

THOUGHTS

  • Well! It looks like I found a potential waifu this season in Shizu!
  • I hope those other three adventurers aren’t ones we see too often. They’re quite annoying.
  • Unsurprisingly, Shizu’s from Japan as well, but a Summon rather than a Reincarnation. And she appears to be from either World War 1 or 2. I want to assume WW1 based on the buildings, but who knows.
  • Why do I get the feeling she’ll be forced to fight Rimuru towards the end of the season? SHE BETTER NOT DIE OR SACRIFICE HERSELF!!!

UzaMaid! (Ep.6)

THOUGHTS

  • Oh no…Tsubame has a friend. Oh?! She wants Tsubame and not Misha? Go on…
  • Oh great, she’s a masochist too. Good lord this show is going to be even more fun.
  • [11:55] I’m fucking dying!
  • She is so fucked up too, my god those two together…
  • Y’know, I really, REALLY like how she looks with short hair. She’s still royally fucked up though.

Week # 5 – Fall Anime 2018

Week # 5 has arrived with the 2018 summer anime season. What’s in store this week?!

Just like every week, I’ll be watching my selected shows for the season and giving my brief feelings on the episode, along with things I liked and things I didn’t like. So let’s get a’watchin’!

***WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW!!!***

Between the Sky and Sea (Ep.5)

THOUGHTS

  • This is getting really dumb. Maiko literally refuses to participate in training because she can’t bear to wear the swimsuit. And Makoto apparently can’t hold her breath long. Yet she survived that training drill?!
  • Ohhh…childhood trauma when she nearly drowned one time. THEN WHY IS SHE TRYING TO BE A SPACE FISHER?!!!
  • Ugh…the sexist bullshit again. This episode is trying really hard to make me want to drop it without a warning.
  • More sexism. Makoto wanted to follow in her father’s footsteps and become a swordsmith, but women can’t according to him.
  • This has been a terrible first half. This show has less than 10 minutes to recover, or it’s gone.
  • I think I’m so annoyed that I’m cherry picking everything now. Like Ruby constantly calling things “fuper sun”.
  • It’s really obviously that swordsmith store was a picture they put into a Photoshop filter. That was not drawn.
  • WHY IS THE TRAINING CENTER NOT BUILT IN CASE THE WATER RISES LIKE THAT?!!!
  • …Okay, they actually fooled me with Rika being a trap.
  • But it’s not enough. The frustration these past few episodes have done, it’s not acceptable. The really terrible “conflicts”, the forced fights between Namino and everyone, the terrible Ruby puns, it’s all adding up and no amount of Makoto bathing is going to solve it. Originally I was going to put this show on notice first, but two terrible episodes in a row and only adding more problems onto the list of things I didn’t like already, it’s just too much. I like the voice acting a lot (except Ruby), but man this show is so full of holes that swiss cheese doesn’t look that bad.

Interest – 2/5 | Writing – 1/5 | Design – 3/5 | Comedy – 1/5 | Ecchi – 5/5 (only because of Makoto)

Merc StoriA: The Apathetic Boy and the Girl in a Bottle (Ep.4)

THOUGHTS

  • The “spell with deep love” stuff is boring and overdone.
  • Even the spiders are adorable…
  • So are we to assume that black-haired banished fairy is the Princess’ father?
  • I’m really sad that this is likely the last time we see these characters. C’mon, at least bring Meneraiah along!

My Sister, My Writer (Ep.4)

THOUGHTS

  • The new girl, the voice actress. She adds nothing except being crazy too.
  • Mai’s suspicious. Of course she is, all it takes is usage of 1% of your brain to figure out something’s amiss.
  • The swimsuit contest went terribly. Mai wins basically because Suzuka looked meh, Sakura looked like trash and Ahegao didn’t even fucking try.
  • The longer this show goes, the more I wonder how much longer until Suzuka just loses it and jumps into his bed at night.

THOUGHTS

  • So the Macho Man Randy Savage finally exists in anime form, eh?
  • The hell is with the crazy debt from the start? Am I playing Animal Crossing again?!
  • Okay seriously, what the fuck is with all this money costing shit?
  • Oh. So they have massive political and military standing. That works.

Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai (Ep.5)

THOUGHTS

  • I’m finding it ironic that the girl who Sakuta ended up kicking the butt of, the show is clearly showing us she has a really nice butt.
  • Tomoe is really frustrating. The whole “I need to be fully involved at all times so no one hates me” kind of girl is really irritating.
  • I’m shocked Sakuta could fight that jock.
  • Is it any surprise Tomoe is falling for Sakuta now? There isn’t enough heavy drama obviously, so now we need potential love triangles and ideas of cheating! *sarcasm*

Skull-face Bookseller Honda-san (Ep.5)

THOUGHTS

  • Just a quick thought here. I’m going to take this off the weekly list, not because it’s bad, in fact I still really like the show. But like a lot of shorts, I’m running out of things to say with the show and there really wasn’t anything this week that I felt I needed to splurge about. So to post this show every week with just a score, I dunno it just looks lazy, so I’d rather just tell you to WATCH IT and not make it seem like I’m just flippantly putting up a score, as if I don’t care about the show.
  • But seriously, watch it if you haven’t already. It’s like Japanese Adult Swim material. It’s awesome!

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Ep.5)

THOUGHTS

  • Well Vesta’s clearly a villain, there’s nothing redeeming about him when it comes to his ridiculous grudge against Kaijin.
  • In the end, Vesta loses everything, as he should have. Despite his acknowledgment, there’s no forgiveness.
  • Kaijin and company are exiled, so they will join Rimuru back to the Goblin Village. Shame, no more Elves for them.
  • Or not, as the King is sending what looks like a sexy as fuck Elven assassin to follow them all. He compares Rimuru to Veldora. If only he knew…

UzaMaid! (Ep.5)

THOUGHTS

  • This Yui girl is annoying as fuck.
  • Of course this show has an old pervert get arrested.
  • Not gonna lie, this sports day skit is really, REALLY dumb.
  • Turns out this show can have a bad episode.

***WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW!!!***

Between the Sky and Sea (Ep.4)

THOUGHTS

  • I actually agree with Namino for once. Ruby is fucking irritating as all hell.
  • Okay, Namino being a real bitch is kinda starting to get old.
  • The fact this entire episode was made solely because Ruby doesn’t like fish…that’s a real waste of an episode.
  • Beach episode with lack of swimsuit variety. -1 point.
  • I’m gonna be completely honest here. Three episodes in, I was excited. This episode? Really annoyed and bored. Show’s in real danger now with me if it doesn’t start just having fun again. Not on notice yet, it’s earned an extra chance after a good start, but man do they have a hill to climb now.

Frankenstein Family (Ep.4) *On Notice*

THOUGHTS

  • The episode just…ends. What the fuck?
  • Everything was okay at best, I had an interest in what they might find in the lab, but now with the addition of a completely random stoppage to the episode, there’s no saving this show. It needed a great episode and was barely able to concoct an okay one.

Interest – 3/5 | Writing – 2/5 | Design – 4/5 | Comedy – 1/5 | TBD | -1 point for random ending

Merc StoriA: The Apathetic Boy and the Girl in a Bottle (Ep.3)

THOUGHTS

  • I’m in love with the purple-haired fairy.
  • I’m pretty sure the princess is same voice as Umaru. A brat through and through.
  • Let’s go beyond that, I’m pretty much okay with banging any of these (of age) fairies.
  • Episode ended abruptly. -1 point

My Sister, My Writer (Ep.3)

THOUGHTS

  • Don’t have a lot to say with this episode, was pretty average.
  • Other than Mai and Ahegao trading “I’m sexier than you!” poses in costumes, most of this episode was pretty forgettable. A loooooot of talking.

Radiant (Ep.4)

THOUGHTS

  • Melie’s a glorious idiot, Doc’s just a loud idiot. Y’know, like Seth.
  • Oh? She has a second personality? I love it.
  • I’m not sure how well the three will mesh together yet, but I’m certainly interested.
  • Not to mention, them already having foils we will likely see for some time is great progress.

Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai (Ep.4)

THOUGHTS

  • The interactions between the two are getting better and better.
  • Oh dear, now we’re in a time paradox.
  • Ass kick girl is back with her own problem. Naturally it affects Sakuta and not Mai (well…least not until Tomoe falls on top of him).
  • These situations are becoming very complicated now that time is being used as well.

Skull-face Bookseller Honda-san (Ep.4)

THOUGHTS

  • My girlfriend was dying watching this show, she works in customer service, so she 100% identifies with the ridiculousness and bullshit pushed upon workers to be overly upbeat and smiling so hard their jaw hurts.
  • Me? It was all right, nothing too special. Also there was basically no second act, so nothing complimented the first act.

Interest – 3/5 | Writing – 3/5 | Design – 3/5 | Comedy – 3/5 | TBD

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Ep.4)

THOUGHTS

  • I just finally noticed this show is 24 episodes, not the traditional 12. Really happy about that, because this show so far has been well-paced and really could use more time.
  • I continue to enjoy how Rimuru has no idea just how strong he is and ends up scaring the shit (this time literally) out of everyone.
  • ELVES!!!
