Adam Rose Arrested for Domestic Abuse
Adam Rose Arrested for Domestic Abuse

Adam Rose was recently arrested for domestic battery and tampering of a witness charges in Florida. I don’t want to go into details since I’m not into reporting these kinds of details, but since the arrest, WWE has suspended him indefinitely and has since gone to trial for it and isn’t seeing any jail time.

It’s sad that we’ve all been for getting this guy something to do, maybe bringing back the Leo Kruger gimmick, at least something different than the Mongoose bullshit he’s had in the Social Outcasts. However after all this…yeah, I’m sorry but I can’t defend this. Expect to see him getting released soon.

New Leader of the Bullet Club
New Leader of the Bullet Club

We all thought Kenny Omega was the leader of Bullet Club, but it appears a new man has stepped into the role in Adam Cole. Interrupting the ROH World Title match between Jay Lethal and Colt Cabana at the Global Wars show, the Young Bucks came out, causing chaos before the lights went out and came back on, revealing Adam Cole as the newest member of the Bullet Club. We’ve also learned after that Adam Page is also in the group now.

I think out of any indie star out there that could work well in the Bullet Club, Adam Cole is at the top of that list and I look forward to seeing where this takes things. I know people have been starting to get tired of the Bullet Club stable, but I’m nowhere near that point yet, there’s enough interchanging members that it’s not growing stale to me yet.

Adam Cole, baybay!

Cedric Alexander Leaving ROH
Cedric Alexander Leaving ROH

Over Twitter, ROH star Cedric Alexander announced that he will be leaving Ring of Honor, his last match last Saturday at the War of the Worlds show in New York.

Many wonder if this could be a potential WWE contract, his name was floating around amongst many names for the WWE Cruiserweight Classic. I haven’t watched a lot of Cedric’s matches, but what I have seen has been pretty good and let’s be honest, we need a ton more diversity in WWE, so another black wrestler in the company is not a bad thing at all. Hope he is indeed on his way to the big show.

AJ Styles Minor Injury
AJ Styles Minor Injury

Reports indicate AJ Styles is dealing with a nagging injury and we’ve also been told that he’s being pulled from house shows for the time being. However it sounds like the injury isn’t his back which was bad at the end of last year, many thinking he might not have made it in time for his match with Shinsuke Nakamura at Wrestle Kingdom 10.

I don’t believe this is an injury to worry about, he doesn’t have to wrestle at this point until Extreme Rules, they could even put in a “do not touch till the PPV” rule into the current storyline just to get AJ out of wrestling. He really doesn’t have anything to prove now in the casual fans’ eyes, so we’re good on that front. So no worries here from me.

Why Bayley Isn't On The Main Roster
Why Bayley Isn’t On The Main Roster

The rumor mill has been circulating that the reason why top NXT female wrester, hell top WWE female wrestler Bayley hasn’t been promoted to the main roster is simply because they don’t have a big babyface to replace her.

Uh…

Y’know Asuka gets a pretty big reaction, right? I mean otherwise…sorry you haven’t been pushing other girls like Peyton Royce, Liv Morgan, Billie Kay and others? That’s not Bayley’s fault. Also, don’t you like money, WWE? I don’t see why NXT not having a “top babyface female” stops the main roster from adding a massive merchandise seller.

WWE, you crazy!

Eight names released from WWE
Eight Names Released From WWE

Friday was a Black Friday for eight talent in WWE as they all saw their release from the company. Ironic how not too long ago I did my roster thin out article. By that logic, the bus flip WWE did on Friday wasn’t nearly large enough but let’s go over the names from the pointless and finishing with the most senseless:

Santino Marella: I was not even aware he was under a contract in the company. *shrug*

Hornswoggle: Same deal until I wrote the article and saw his name on Wikipedia. He hasn’t been used in forever so again, this wasn’t much of a surprise.

Cameron: She should have been fired for being in training for an extended period of time and still making the bone-headed mistake of pinning a girl over her back.

El Torito: Again like Hornswoggle, he hadn’t been around for a while. The Matadores have been defunct and they’re currently being repackaged as…Puerto Ricans? Okay. But obviously WWE was never going to take him seriously, because Vince McMahon & Co. are a bunch of short-sighted children, so it’s no surprise he’s gone too.

Zeb Colter: This just sucks cause the guy is a great manager, but perhaps because he’s legitimately in rough shape and needs that wheelchair/scooter. They really fucked up by pairing him with Alberto Del Rio, a choice that will never make any sense whatsoever. But yeah, another sad release.

Alex Riley: Clearly the guy has some anger issues as seen with his recent Internet war with Jason Solomon aka Solomonster, but this guy should’ve been an upper midcard talent, easily. He was white hot when he turned on Miz and then he vanished like he never existed. There’s rumours going around that John Cena really fucked with him when he was on his way up in the company, but regardless of the reasons as to why he lost all his momentum, he shouldn’t have and it’s just another bane on WWE.

Wade Barrett: How did this man never win a world title? Oh yeah, John Cena happened. We all knew Barrett was leaving though, the rumour mill has been saying this for months now, but it’s absolutely sad how someone so talented never got the opportunities he deserved, especially after making the Nexus stable one of the hottest angles in the PG era of WWE. Speaking of people not getting opportunities…

Damien Sandow: Fuck you, WWE. Fuck you for everything you’ve ever done with this guy. What the fuck did this man do to piss you off? We all deserve to know at this point! You gave him everything you could to make him a joke and he got over. Damien Mizdow should’ve been the dumbest fucking gimmick since Mantaur and Aaron Stevens figured out how to make it work and got white fucking hot with it. And then you did nothing with it. And Big Match John makes another appearance as when Sandow had the Money In The Bank briefcase, he became the first to lose the match after cashing in against, drum roll please…JOHN FUCKING CENA!

So all in all…#FuckYouCena!

Enzo Amore Injury at Payback
Enzo Amore Injury at Payback

Watching the Payback PPV live, I was subjected to a shocking sight with Enzo Amore getting knocked out in the early stages of the Tag Team Title Tournament final against the Vaudevillains. From what we saw, he went to slide under the ropes and missed a step, whacking his head against the middle rope and then the canvas afterwards and you could see his eyes glaze over as he fell out of the ring. It’s been said that he probably got knocked loopy just before being tossed for that under-the-rope spot, causing him to mess it up, regardless it was a frightening sight.

I can still remember Over The Edge when Owen Hart fell to his death (granted, we saw nothing of it), but I still remember how dead the entire crowd was and how shocking it was, how it was so hard to watch afterwards. This was no different with Enzo, I worried we were getting another situation similar to Perro Aguayo Jr and we may have had a serious injury and possibly death on our hands. Thankfully we heard during the PPV he was moving and eventually we learned he just sustained a concussion, the best-case scenario in my mind when all this happened.

Hopefully we’ll still see Enzo on television as a mouthpiece for Big Cass while he recovers. Get well soon, Enzo!

Eric Young NXT Debut
Eric Young NXT Debut

At the recent NXT, photos of former TNA talent Eric Young surfaced online of him walking into Full Sail. Sure enough, he showed up at the tapings and even wrestled in a losing effort to current NXT Champion, Samoa Joe.

Personally, this isn’t that big a deal to me, mostly because I couldn’t care less about anything TNA-related and especially Eric Young. I never did find anything good about him in the couple of times I saw him on TNA television.

It’s at the point honestly where I think WWE needs to quit bringing in aging TNA “stars”. They already got AJ Styles, who technically got brought in on his New Japan merits and not TNA and Samoa Joe, who I actually thought would’ve failed in NXT but has proven me way wrong. Other guys like James Storm, Eric Young and Bobby Roode, who’s also shown up on NXT television are not the kind of guys I want to see in NXT. If you’re gonna take guys from TNA, take the young ones, the guys you can still shape. All these older guys basically make it look like NXT needs them for recognition, which they don’t anymore.

I don’t expect a thing out of Eric Young in NXT, I’d be surprised if he’s around more than a few months.

Kyle Edwards and Rich Brennan Leave WWE
Kyle Edwards and Rich Brennan Leave WWE

Announcers Rich Brennan and Kyle Edwards have been released from WWE.

Honestly, Brennan’s release doesn’t do anything for me, but losing Kyle Edwards aka Arda Ocal is a huge loss for me. I actually had the opportunity to work with Arda a number of times when he was commentating on Ontario Hockey League games for Rogers. He’s a real class act and it’s a damn shame that he’s leaving the company at the top of something he absolutely adores. Arda’s a massive wrestling fan, he’s best known for his Right After Wrestling radio show and Aftermath on the form TheScore television network.

Yet…no wrestlers have been released. Two announcers, but no wrestlers. Wow, WWE.

New Japan Signs Will Ospreay
New Japan Signs Will Ospreay

With the looming threat of WWE taking a look at the young up-and-coming Will Ospreay, New Japan decided to lock him up under contract before that happened.

I’ve seen only a handful of his matches and I can already see why everyone’s after this guy. I feel like he’s got mega-star written all over him. Even the ace of New Japan, Hiroshi Tanahashi says he has “ace potential”, and the kid’s only 22!

If you haven’t seen any of his matches, you need to look out for them. His match with KUSHIDA at Invasion Attack and his match at EVOLVE 58 (I believe) with Zack Sabre Jr. were fantastic and you need to check them out!

WWE Network No Longer Allowing Shared Accounts
WWE Network No Longer Allowing Shared Accounts

In response to the likely plethora of people sharing accounts for the WWE Network, the company is deciding to shut that ability down. However, it’s being done way too far than it should be.

Most would assume they are simply doing it because of their live pay-per-views, but they’re extending this ban to everything, which is extremely questionable. The largest on-demand services don’t do this, Netflix doesn’t do it, Crunchyroll doesn’t do it, so why does the WWE Network who can barely keep their numbers above a million subscribers think they can do it for everything? I understand the live content, but come on!

Obviously this is a last-inch effort in racking up higher numbers, figuring it’ll force some people to subscribe. However we’re not stupid, people will just find more streams instead of sharing a friend’s account.

Keep digging that hole, WWE.

Let’s Thin Out The WWE Roster!

01

The WWE roster is absolutely massive, it’s obvious. It becomes even more obvious when you realize how many of the men and women on the roster have left without it being through retirement in the last 12 months. Let’s face it, WWE, you need to start releasing talent! Clearly there are talent that have been there far too long and have accomplished nothing.

So let’s go through the entire roster one-by-one, men and women, wrestlers, announcers, anyone who’s on television. And this includes NXT as well.

And now, through the power of Wikipedia, let’s go through this trainwreck!

NOTE: Any names I list are people I actually know of, so NXT backstage/house show announcers, referees, second language commentators and anyone in the Performance Center who haven’t had legitimate NXT debuts (jobbing doesn’t count) aren’t included on this massive list.

Adam Rose – I’d try one more gimmick with him, perhaps reverting back to Leo Kruger and if that still fails, then give him the boot. Might be happening anyways though with what’s going on behind the scenes since his “positive drug test”.

Aiden English – Obviously just debuted with Simon Gotch, I think these guys will have trouble succeeding, given the gimmick, but they’ll be fine for a little while.

AJ Styles – No! They don’t want none! Too bad, cause we may be getting AJ Styles in WWE until he retires. And I’m okay with that.

Alberto Del Rio – It’s clear to me he was better off back in Lucha Underground and AAA. Without the cars and Ricardo, Del Rio on his own is boring as fuck. Gone!

Alex Riley – He’s been around far too long as is becoming a real prick on social media with fans and podcasters. Clearly has a bad attitude and if The Miz wasn’t enough to put him over with the fans, then there’s pretty much no hope left for him.

Alexa Bliss – She’s gonna be a tremendous heel when she’s up on the main roster, no reason at all to change her course.

Alicia Fox – This one’s a tough one, but because of the plethora of female talent on its way from NXT, she has to go simply to make room. But I don’t hate her, this is a pure business decision.

Apollo Crews – Again, a new debut and looks to be a mega-star for the company. He won’t be a favourite of the internet, but he’s got all the tools to get over within the company.

Asuka – Even if I wanted to say no, I’m not going to cause she’d whip my ass. Probably the best overall woman wrestler in the company right now.

Austin Aries – Needs to go heel right this very moment. I don’t know how I feel about him as a face currently, but I know just how damn good he is as a heel, hopefully that’ll happen soon in NXT.

Baron Corbin – I don’t know why people hate him so much, is he a good wrestler? Eh…he’s all right. But by WWE standards, he’s exactly what they want and he’s got a unique look with a badass theme song. He’ll be fine guys, relax.

Bayley – Yes, let’s remove the female John Cena before she even reaches the main roster. She also might be injured now, so this may actually be a blessing in disguise. We might be seeing her on the main roster in the fall or later once she’s healed up. Mega-star when she’s called up.

Becky Lynch – Personally, I think she’s the best woman wrestler on the main roster and yes that means ahead of Sasha Banks. So sue me!

Big E – How this man hasn’t even sniffed a World Title opportunity is flabbergasting. New Day going after a heel Roman Reigns would be extremely interesting.

Big Show – Keep him on a Legends deal, make him an ambassador, do whatever you want. But he shouldn’t be in the ring anymore, no question.

Billie Kay – She’ll be a good hand in another year or two, part of the next wave of NXT women.

Blake – Didn’t think he and Murphy had anything except Alexa’s ass to begin with, don’t see anything in them.

Bo Dallas – It pains me to say this, but I think the ship has sailed on Bo. I stopped Bo-lieving.

Booker T – Just keep him off the announce desk and I’ll be happy. Don’t mind him on the pre-show.

Braun Strowman – A big man who isn’t threatening anymore. NEXT!

Bray Wyatt – Should’ve been champion by now, or at least a bonafide main eventer. All on WWE for this failure, none of it’s on Bray.

Brock Lesnar – Same with Asuka, he scares me so I ain’t saying shit!

Bubba Ray Dudley – Great role player with D-Von helping Enzo & Cass currently. Can see them in this role for another year or so before their last hurrah.

Byron Saxton – I tried, Byron, I really did. But you’re not working out as a color commentator. Time to go!

Cameron – She’ll never shake off the fact she tried to pin her opponent over her back.

Carmella – Expecting to see her with Enzo & Cass soon, perhaps when they face a team with a valet as well.

Cesaro – They can keep trying to make him look like shit by spouting movie quotes, but he’s over WWE and there’s nothing you can do about it. Just please give him some real music.

Chad Gable – The future of WWE, I firmly believe this.

Charlotte – If they have her cheat on her own and without old man Ric Flair kissing girls, she’ll be fine. She’s got the talent.

Chris Jericho – Wonder how much longer till his next Fozzy tour is…oh! Sorry, I love the band. But yeah, he’s gonna be around until he retires.

Colin Cassady – He and Enzo will be ruling the tag division for the forseeable future. Could see him as a singles competitor, but don’t want to cause it would mean the two of them break up.

Corey Graves – Should be in JBL’s spot right now with Mauro at the helm.

Curtis Axel – Sorry, but Axelmania has run long enough.

D-Von Dudley – See Bubba Ray Dudley

Damien Sandow – Since we’re letting a lot of talent go here, maybe he’ll actually get some TV time finally. Ah who am I kidding, it could be just three people on the roster and then him and he still wouldn’t appear on a 3-hour show.

Dana Brooke – She’ll be interesting in two years when she’s ready for the main roster. I think she’s got some talent, it’s a matter of if she catches on with her personality that’ll really help her out.

Darren Young – Has nothing to do with his sexuality, he just has the entertainment value of a flea circus.

Dash Wilder – Would love to see him and Dawson on the main roster as super aggressive heels. Kinda like what Anderson/Gallows are doing right now with the Usos and Roman. But to everyone, no fucks given.

David Otunga – Apparently he’s still on the roster. Get the fuck out of here you talent-less twat!

Dean Ambrose – Should’ve already had a title run but y’know, shitty Rollins run, shitty Triple H run, shitty Reigns run.

Dolph Ziggler – Y’know what? Take a year or two off, try out your comedy thing, do a couple movies, maybe wrestle in New Japan, Lucha Underground, wherever you can get a good payday and then come back. Vince may have forgotten you by then, since the prick’ll live forever.

Eden Stiles – Imagine she’ll be the RAW ring announcer soon enough.

El Torito – Unless they actually have a Minis division (probably on NXT), there’s no point in having him now.

Elias Samson – Character sucks, wrestling sucks, eh…if he can’t figure it out soon, boot him.

Emma – Should’ve debuted better, but Santino killed her dead. Love how she’s recovered with this heel biker Emma. Might be making a comeback.

Enzo Amore – This guy is money, the best promo in the business right now.

Epico & Primo (aka “Puerto Rico”) – Unless Carlito is with these two, they should already be gone.

Erick Rowan – Like Strowman, this guy failed miserably in a group that should’ve been untouchable.

Eva Marie – People are going to hate me for this, but she’s got Roman Reigns heat. So she should be around as a punching bag for the faces.

Fandango – Personally, I think he’s the perfect guy to have around to be a jobber for the future NXT call-ups.

Finn Balor – If this guy isn’t a mega-star when he’s called up to main roster, then WWE truly has lost touch. Great wrestler, the girls will cling to him, okay promo. And the kids will love him when the body paint gets brought out too.

Goldust – Still better than half the roster and he’s 47.

Heath Slater – Another great jobber for the future talent like Fandango.

Hideo Itami – Hopefully recovers from his injury soon and can become something, but I worry that with Shinsuke now in NXT, he may get lost in the shuffle. Remember, can’t have too many foreigners from the same country. WWE logic.

Hornswoggle – Wasn’t even aware he was still under contract, if Wikipedia isn’t lying of course. Gone!

Jack Swagger – Shouldn’t be a jobber but shouldn’t be winning matches either, so there’s no place for him now.

Jason Jordan – Should be a huge star like Gable, it’s really a toss-up between the two of them as who ends up being the bigger star.

JBL – The most annoying voice in WWE. And he sits next to Michael Cole.

Jerry Lawler – Would’ve had him retire if you asked me last year, but after seeing him return to form as a heel color commentator with Mauro, maybe there’s some life in him still (not trying to be cheeky).

Jey & Jimmy Uso – Honestly, they’re okay in the ring and that’s about it. Make room for other guys in the tag division.

John Cena – Fire him! Fire him! Fire him! All right, all right, he’s John Cena, of course he stays.

Johnny Gargano – Could be a real good hand in two years, an Intercontinental/US Title midcard talent.

Jojo – I hate her voice as a ring announcer. Might be good as a valet, but since WWE doesn’t do that on the main roster anymore, she’s essentially useless.

Kalisto – Should already be Rey Mysterio II, but they’re fucking with him since Ryback still exists. I’ll change that in a minute…

Kane – Same with Big Show, keep him around, just not in the ring.

Karl Anderson – Hope he and Gallows work out with whatever they may be doing from Payback onwards. He’s not the greatest in the ring, but he and Gallows look and play the dominant tag team role super well. Should be tag champs before the year ends.

Kevin Owens – Potential World Champion in two years. Imagine him and Zayn for the title at WrestleMania! This guy has everything, the charisma, the in-ring skills, the look, he’s doing this well and he’s fat by WWE standards. You know Vince hates how he looks and he’s still doing this well. If he was a 200-pound ripped guy, he’d be the next Steve Austin. Still technically is, far as I’m concerned but in WWE’s eyes, not so much.

King Barrett – Sad to see him go, I think he had all the tools but could never shake off Cena’s single-handed destruction of the Nexus. Maybe we’ll see him back in a year or so, but I’m not holding my breath.

Kofi Kingston – Really revived since The New Day’s caught fire. Hopefully will see him back in the IC title picture soon.

Konnor – Bleh! Never liked the Ascension, this main roster version was even worse.

Lana – Gonna be honest, I don’t feel she’s worth keeping around now, the damage has been done and putting her in the ring now I feel is a colossal waste of time.

Lilian Garcia – Don’t know why she had to come back, she constantly screws up.

Luke Gallows – See Karl Anderson

Luke Harper – Real crime that he’s where he is since the Wyatt Family was written into a failure. Should be a upper-midcard talent, IC title picture, all that jazz.

Mark Henry – Should be retiring soon if he hasn’t quietly already. Great worker but his time has come to call it a career. Will miss him, wish they had used him better in his prime. Hope he does his Hall of Fame speech in that pink suit.

Maryse – Making Miz even better now.

Mauro Ranallo – Should be the RAW lead announcer and on PPVs right now. Fuck Michael Cole!

Michael Cole – Speaking of Michael Cole, MAY I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE!!! AND I QUOTE…YOU’RE FIRED!!!

The Miz – Arguably the best heel in the business right now, he just draws heat and gets people over.

Mojo Rawley – Bring him up ASAP and see if he works on the main roster, cause he’s not getting any better. Test him and if he doesn’t work out, toss him.

Murphy – See Blake

Naomi – Can be a good bitch heel and has a unique enough look that she can be a lower-tier part of the women’s roster.

Natalya – It’s a damn shame how she got put at the bottom under the Bellas and shit. Was the best of them all until the NXT call-ups.

Neville – Hopefully recovers when he returns from his ankle injury. Still don’t like them removing his first name, Neville just doesn’t work as a one-name character.

Nia Jax – Could be a massive heel force in the women’s division when she gets to the main roster. Will probably be running NXT if Asuka actually gets called up to the main roster.

Nikki Bella – Stay on your shitty reality TV show and get the fuck out of the ring, you’ve had more than enough time in that spotlight.

No Way Jose – After watching his debut, I’ve already concluded his gimmick will get old by six months and then he’ll be pointless. So why bother.

Paige – She needs to be taken down a peg. Have her find herself in Shimmer or Shine again, the Bellas rubbed off on her too much.

Paul Heyman – You’d be insane to even think about taking him off TV. Mostly because you see him only a few times a year.

Peyton Royce – Like Billie Kay, she’ll be a huge part of the next wave of NXT girls in the next 2-3 years.

R-Truth – You know what? He’s like Goldust, still has it and he’s in his 40s as well. Keep him around ’till retirement.

Randy Orton – Would prefer if he’s done in the next three years, he’s had his time, let’s have someone else have that spot. But until then, you know he’ll be around.

Renee Young – Should be a color commentator full-time, imagine her with Mauro and Corey. Oh man.

Ric Flair – Shouldn’t have been back on TV full-time with Charlotte to begin with. Legends deal and stay out of the spotlight.

The Rock – Thrice in a lifetime.

Roman Reigns – Hopefully the #1 heel after Payback, but WWE keeps proving they don’t care about common fucking sense.

Rosa Mendes – Don’t care that you’re having a baby, you should’ve been gone years ago.

Rusev – Hopefully with the League of Nations disbanded he can return to being a little more dominant and the damage he’s sustained the last 12 months doesn’t stay with him.

Ryback – You’ve had world title matches, several title runs and you think you deserve more when you’re a bulky musclehead with no charisma? Fuck off.

Sami Zayn – Should be the next John Cena in terms of being the super good babyface that everyone loves. Except he shouldn’t slowly devolve into “Let’s go, Sami—SAMI SUCKS!!!” chants like Cena did.

Samoa Joe – I thought he’d fail miserably in NXT and boy did he prove me wrong. Should be the #2 monster heel on the main roster right now, but I’ll take him with the NXT title for a bit.

Sasha Banks – She’s the Boss, what more can I say?

Scott Dawson – See Dash Wilder

Seth Rollins – Expect an awesome babyface run when he returns. Can’t wait.

Shane McMahon – Imagine he’ll only be around a little longer, can’t see Vince picking him to run RAW at Payback this Sunday.

Sheamus – I think he’s shown that he’s plateaued and then some. Time to let him go, maybe bring him back in a couple years if he gets some traction in the indies, if he chooses to do so.

Shinsuke Nakamura – If he’s not on the main roster by SummerSlam, they’re wasting his time. BIG MONEY with him worldwide.

Simon Gotch – See Aiden English

Sin Cara – The stank from the original is still there and the new one isn’t much better.

Stardust – Expect to see Cody Rhodes back by the end of the year.

Stephanie McMahon – I’d love to get rid of her, but that’s impossible. I’d be more likely to win the lottery than convince WWE to kick her out.

Summer Rae – Not actually that bad, but she’s lost in the shuffle and I don’t think there’s any coming back from this.

Tamina – Can deal with her on the roster until Nia Jax is called up. Then she becomes obsolete.

Titus O’Neil – Better off out of WWE now after all that’s happened.

Tom Phillips – Have him on the Smackdown announce team.

Tommaso Ciampa – Same with Gargano, gonna be a good midcarder in a couple years.

Triple H – I can’t fire The Game! Lemmy would be sad, I can’t do that to the man. RIP Lemmy!

Tye Dillinger – Keep him in NXT ’till the gimmick runs out with the fans, he’s a great guy for debuting talent down there.

Tyler Breeze – Shouldn’t be obscure right now, but Vince is old and doesn’t get anything that isn’t over 6’6″ and is jacked.

Tyson Kidd – Shame what happened to him, thank god he’s alive though. Doubt we’ll ever see him back, but if he recovers and can wrestle, he should.

Undertaker – If he’s not retiring, he’ll always have a place.

Viktor – See Konnor

William Regal – I’d have him as RAW GM, but he’s doing so good in NXT right now that I think he should stay in that role. Though I also miss him on commentary with Renee…

Xavier Woods – Super entertaining, though he’ll probably be Tag Team and maybe US title level his entire career.

Zack Ryder – I’m so upset with what happened to him since WrestleMania, what was the point in all that?! But honestly, if after that he’s still going nowhere, then it’s time to say goodbye. He’ll be a big indie star. Woo…woo…woo………*cries*

Zeb Colter – Can’t see who else he’d work with, so just because of that, not putting him back on TV.

Total Roster Before Cuts – 127

Total Roster After Cuts – 82

I have 45 people removed from the roster, keep in mind that some of these names will be likely retiring in a couple years and others on the list are just starting their main roster careers or NXT careers. But my cuts alone open a number of spots and create many opportunities for guys to make it or break it and if they fail, even more spots get opened up.

WWE has a serious problem with releasing talent and I don’t know why. For a company that doesn’t listen to their fanbase, they don’t even release the guys we like just to piss us off. It’s weird.

Let me know who you think I’m wrong about keeping or firing in the comments below! Cheers!

This Week in Wrestling – 4/25/16

Chyna Passes Away at 45
Chyna Passes Away at 45

I really hope this doesn’t become a weekly event, because it’s happening a lot lately. Joanie Laurer, better known to wrestling fans as the “Ninth Wonder of the World” Chyna has passed away at the age of 45.

Remembered as one of the most influential female wrestlers in WWE history, while Chyna only had one run at the Women’s Champion, she’s a 2-time WWE Intercontinental Champion and in fact the only woman to ever hold the championship and the only female to hold an active men’s title, as Molly Holly’s Hardcore and Jacqueline’s Cruiserweight title reigns are of now defunct titles. She was a talent that was considered equal to the boys at her peak in WWE.

She’ll unfortunately also be remembered for more insignificant things, such as her porn career, which didn’t bother me at all as it was none of my business what she did anyway. She also has had a history with drug abuse, which many are believing is part in cause of her sudden death, but we won’t know for a while what the actual cause of death is.

Chyna was a legend in the wrestling business, regardless of how you feel about her as a person. She’s the closest woman to being considered one of the boys on WWE programming and a massive influence on a ton of women in the business today.

My condolences go out to her family and friends. She will truly be missed.

Conor McGregor to WWE?!!!
Conor McGregor to WWE?!!!

With a sudden Tweet, Conor McGregor shook the foundation of MMA and potentially wrestling:

The world blew up with this news, tons of speculation going around for what was going on in the world of Conor McGregor, to the point that WWE actually acknowledged this, throwing more fuel into the fire.

But it ended quickly:

And he did indeed release a statement on Facebook later that essentially explained his frustration with the sheer amount of pointless interviews and press conferences he was doing. After losing to Diaz, McGregor wanted to train for the rematch without distractions, citing all the promotional stuff he had to do as a part of why he was not fully prepared for that first fight. He also states he is not retired, but says he just saved UFC a ton of money in promotion by that single tweet saying he was retiring, just to prove a point.

The idea of McGregor being in WWE isn’t however out of the question somewhere down the line, we’ve seen the charisma he has and it could certainly translate if he wanted to take a run in pro wrestling. But obviously, UFC is paying much more for his services and he only has to fight a few times a year, so that option seems to be the better choice currently.

Well…it was a fun couple of days to watch through social media.

Adam Rose Speaks Out on his Supsension
Adam Rose Speaks Out on his Supsension

Not long after his suspension was revealed to the public, Adam Rose made this lengthy comment:

“I was not going to respond to my suspension but I feel I have to. I have two sons that will one day read that news about there daddy and a sister that died from complications related to a life long battle with heroin. So I feel the absolute need and right to respond and let the truth be known.

I am pretty sure this response will meet nowhere near the publicity that my suspension did and that this response is tantamount to career suicide. But I feel for my sons my sister and rest of my family… you the Wwe universe have the right to the know the truth over my suspension and what it was for.

I will also quote my Dr in my response as he was as shocked and appalled by this suspension. I can say right now I did not do anything knowingly wrong and was taking prescribed medication that my Dr and I followed all the correct protocol on. My actual response and Doctors response will be coming soon. So before you judge, know the facts.

My family and I are still collecting ourselves from this blow. I have zero anger or animosity against the WWE. But feel the administrators over the WWE Welnness policy were just simply not right in taking this action. But I feel facts are the facts and my family and I will will be the ones putting our lives back together after this mess.

My response will be up soon along with my Doctors.”

This is a pretty serious response from Ray Leppan, better known as Adam Rose. He’s basically saying that WWE suspended him for no reason and that’s a pretty serious allegation coming from him, again relaying the “career suicide” comment in his words. Although now it’s hard to see WWE really taking any action against this, regardless of whether the allegations are true or not, firing him will not but them in a good light.

However this brings up a bigger problem: How often these suspensions are getting out and who’s getting them. Adam Rose and Konnor were the two suspended, where are they on the card? Certainly not the top. The last two suspensions before these two? Hornswoggle and Ricardo Rodriguez. Yep, that’s the last two people who got suspended by the Wellness Policy, two talent that weren’t even really wrestling in the company. It’s clear that WWE is very biased in their systems, obviously the notorious strike removal rule or as many have coined it “The Orton Rule”, the major stars can pretty much get away with almost anything, so long as WWE thinks highly of them. Many are wondering if these two suspensions were just a way for WWE to “justify” firing them later on, as if they need one.

WWE has a real problem letting people go all of a sudden, the roster is far too inflated and so many are getting chance after chance while others just sit in the back every show (*cough cough* Damien Sandow…) who have talent. Anyone with half a brain could cut this roster in half easily, lower the sheer amounts of money WWE is paying all the talent they’re not using and allow the best of the best get all the opportunities they deserve. But instead, we’re getting more evidence of the clear bias and lack of responsibility WWE has.

The Wellness Policy is indeed a joke, so no one’s surprised if Adam Rose actually wasn’t on anything wrong, they just used the Policy as an out with him. WWE is petty like this guys, let’s not act surprised.

Blackjack Mulligan Passes Away at 73
Blackjack Mulligan Passes Away at 73

After already being hospitalized and listed in critical condition not long ago, we learned the sad news this week of Robert Windham aka Blackjack Mulligan passing away at the age of 73. Now I’m too young to remember him from live wrestling, but I do recall the odd old-school video of some of his matches and I liked his style, a shame many new wrestling fans may never see his matches ever. Of course, fans are aware of him by his sons who include Barry Windham, his son-in-law Mike Rotunda aka IRS and his two sons, Windham and Taylor, better known as Bray Wyatt and Bo Dallas.

Blackjack Mulligan will be severely missed by the pro wrestling community and I wish his family and friends my deepest apologies for their loss.

Post-Mania Raw Thoughts
Post-Mania Raw Thoughts

There’s a lot to go over from the Raw after quite possibly the worst WrestleMania I’ve watched live. For starters, the RAW debuts. Apollo Crews looked good in his first match, his character didn’t go over terribly well in NXT, but I think it’s more suited for the main roster crowd anyway. The smiling gimmick makes him a lot like another John Cena type and with the potential of being one of the very few African Americans to be come world champion, his career could be on the rise in WWE. Baron Corbin after winning the battle royal came out to a resounding meh, but I think that’s what we should be expecting from a new heel, he’s not going to start with mega heat. And Enzo/Cass blew it out the water in their debut, Enzo was on his full promo game Monday night and I can only hope that with that huge crowd reaction from the hardcore faithful, the dumber casual crowds will look at that as people they should be cheering for and letting WWE know they’re worth keeping around in a major tag team role.

The whole Shane/Vince angle has been a joke and RAW cemented that. After all the storylines and losing at WM, Shane still gets the job for the night. I could talk forever about the dips in logic here, but I have a larger complaint: What did Shane actually do? Don’t pretend that he caused all these debuts and AJ Styles to win the #1 contender spot for Roman’s title. This is a NORMAL post-WM RAW and he appeared once after getting the job to say what the main event was. He didn’t come back out to say anything, he didn’t introduce anyone, he was just there. Bravo, WWE.

The women’s segment was also dumb, not on anyone’s part in the ring, but how Vince and Co. drew this up. You know the fans on this show are smart, so you should know that when EVERY WOMAN ON THE MAIN ROSTER is out in the ring for this, they’re going to assume someone’s missing, hence the Bayley chants. People were upset with the crowd for ruining the segment, but that’s not the fans fault. WWE should’ve at least had Sasha and Becky not in the ring, so the fans can at least think they’re in the back pissed off and might come out to say something. Instead, everyone was there and Charlotte had to push her way through that crowd because the writers and Vince are fucking stupid at setting things up and don’t think about a damn thing beforehand.

Finally, AJ Styles getting a shot at the title is bittersweet. He’s going to be the first victim of the Roman Empire’s title run, but there could be a few pluses to this match. One, the opportunity for AJ Styles to prove that he can draw, work in the main event and put on a spectacle could do wonders for other guys on the card like Owens, Zayn, Cesaro and more NXT indie callups to come. And of course secondly, the potential for a Balor Club interference, assuming now it’d be against Styles not with him is now upped higher, which can never be a bad thing at this point. As long as Styles looks strong in this match, I honestly don’t see a problem with him losing. The fact WWE is actually giving him a shot so soon into his WWE debut is a possible sign things might actually be changing after all. But only time will tell.

More Names Rumored for GCS
More Names Rumored for GCS

Amongst all the announced names, there’s three major names floating around for the WWE Global Cruiserweight Series. Obviously after appearing on NXT Takeover: Dallas, Kota Ibushi is pretty much a lock and according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer it could be far more than just that. But other names rumored are Ring of Honor’s Cedric Alexander and Ricochet, also known as Prince Puma in Lucha Underground.

Alexander is currently not under contract with ROH so he could easily make an appearance. The more curious object though is that Ricochet has announced he will not be taking any booking after June, which could mean more than a GCS appearance as well.

It’s no secret to wrestling fans that Ricochet is one of the best athletic stars in the entire wrestling world and is a major crime that WWE has not picked him up yet. So if he could be possibly heading to WWE for a permanent stint, this is huge news to the indie wrestling community. There’s just no way this guy can fail unless he has a career-ending injury, he’s got the look, the swagger and arguably the best athletic ability in the entire world right now.

This tournament could be the best thing to ever happen in professional wrestling. Seriously. The best.

WM 33 Match Already Set?
WM 33 Match Already Set?

After appearing at WM 32 in the battle royal, it looks like Shaq vs Big Show is almost a lock as a match next year at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando. Now my personal thoughts are simple, this might actually work. Shaq’s a big guy and he’d be facing let’s be honest a non-threatening character now in Big Show who apparently is the only person in the WWE with a knockout punch (cause even Lesnar doesn’t have one), so I can see this match working. It’s also a throwaway celebrity match, after this year’s WM I’ll accept whatever crap they throw next year, it can’t be any worse.

I shouldn’t have said that…oh dear, what have I done?

REVIEW: EVOLVE 58

01

Johnny Gargano/Drew Galloway (w/Kota Ibushi) def. Anthony Nese and Caleb Konley – Evolve Tag Team Championships

  • Feed immediately for this show sucked, stopping at very short intervals
  • Galloway catching Konley’s suicide dive was awesome
  • Then the stream died, I don’t know who won until half an hour later checking Twitter

Score: Huh?/5

(No Contest) Matt Riddle vs Timothy Thatcher – Evolve Championship

  • It’s weird seeing a UFC kind of match happening in pro wrestling
  • Which also means to me (I don’t care for MMA) this was relatively boring to watch
  • Massive number of Fujiwara Armbars and Cross Armbreakers between these two
  • Match ends with Riddle breaking Thatcher’s arm and is declared a no contest? Why is that a no contest?

Score: 2/5

Marty Scurll def. Fred Yehi

  • First time seeing Marty Scurll, he’s like a steampunk Penguin, I like him
  • He’s a good heel, a lot of real dirty moves, like he’s actually trying to hurt his opponents
  • Them damaging each other’s hands, feet, fingers, toes, it was entertaining
  • How long has it been since I watched someone win with a chicken wing?

Score: 3/5

Sami Callihan def. Ethan Page

  • Always weird seeing someone I know wrestling on TV (went to college with Ethan)
  • It’s great to see Sami hitting his stride again now out of NXT and the shitty Solomon Crowe gimmick
  • Geez, Sami gets red as fuck during a match!
  • Liger Bomb into a submission, interesting combination from Sami
  • I love the sadistic smile Sami had when the crowd started cheering “Fuck him up, Sami, fuck him up!”
  • Always love Ethan’s jumping Diamond Cutter from the apron
  • Weird with a match ending with a running forearm, but a good match nonetheless

Score: 3/5

TJ Perkins def. Ricochet

  • “He’s like a Puma!”, funny exchange with Ricochet (aka Prince Puma, don’t tell anyone, it’s our little secret) and the fans
  • Ricochet never ceases to impress me with his agility
  • Little bit of mudhole stompin’ from Ricochet, nice Texas callout
  • The People’s Moonsault…awesome
  • Lot of really good leg-based submission holds from Perkins
  • Great submission sequence from Perkins to win the match, that was a fun watch
  • Nice little addition promo for TJ Perkins being in the Global Cruiserweight Series

Score: 3.75/5

Zack Sabre Jr. def Will Ospreay

  • I noticed after about five minutes I didn’t write anything yet cause I was paying so much attention to the match, they’re mesmerizing
  • Both men are going to be incredible talents in the future, I wasn’t aware Opsreay’s only 22!
  • Sabre’s submissions never cease to amaze me
  • Ospreay’s reactions to the submissions as well are fantastic!
  • A nice thing about not-WWE shows, people do RKOs aka Diamond Cutters
  • A second-rope Phoenix Splash?!!!
  • Shooting Star into a submission?!
  • Stream starts to lag at the worst times, the match seems about to end
  • And with one of the sickest submissions I’ve ever seen, Sabre wins

Score: 5/5

Chris Hero/Tommy End vs Drew Gulak/Tracy Williams

  • I know he can still move well and wrestles like one of the best, but man Hero looks unhealthy to me
  • A ton of hard hits, holy shit
  • The double knee spot with Hero/End looked brutal
  • The stomp/piledriver combo was awesome
  • Gulak wins with the Dragon Sleeper

Score: 3.5/5

Overall Score: 3.75/5

PAGE UPDATE: WrestleMania Weekend

01

Just a heads up, the blog will be 100% wrestling from Friday-Sunday, so any weekly content is taking a backseat this weekend for the madness that will be WrestleMania weekend.

I don’t know if I’ll be posting my “live reviews” of each event I watch, I will at least do NXT Takeover: Dallas and of course WrestleMania, but I’ll also be watching the two EVOLVE shows and likely Shimmer’s show with John and Katelyn (who were on the only posted episode of the Radical Wrestling Podcast if you saw it).

So yeah, this week’s Anime Spotlight (which is going to be Erased) will be getting pushed to next week as I’m pretty much going to have zero time tomorrow to write it up given my job, followed by EVOLVE and NXT tomorrow night.

If you’re a wrestling fan, you’ll enjoy the next three days. If not, uh…SORRY!

Bret Hart is Cancer-Free!

After WWE Legend Bret “The Hitman” Hart announced to the world he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer, we have now learned that not only has he already beaten it, but he’s 100% cancer-free!

Hearing the initial news of his cancer diagnosis, it was a real shot to a lot of wrestling fans. It’s no secret that Bret Hart has not had the best run in terms of his health since retiring from wrestling, suffering a stroke back in 2002. But only a month after revealing to everyone his cancer diagnosis, he’s already beaten it.

And he’s in good company in terms of his health, both his parents lived past their 70s, his father Stu Hart living until he was 88. So take that into account, and we’ll hopefully be seeing a lot more of The Hitman for years to come.

Hayabusa Passes Away at 47

Japanese wrestling legend Hayabusa (Eiji Ezaki) has tragically passed away at 47 of a subarachnoid hemorrhage. This news hits really hard to anyone who’s kept up with Hayabusa as he was just recently walking again.

For those who aren’t aware, back in 2001, Hayabusa was left paralyzed after cracking two vertebrae after landing directly on his head after botching a springboard moonsault. In 2015, after being told he’d never walk again, 14 years later he was able to walk with help and then eventually with a cane.

This is one of those stories that is just heartbreaking for anyone who follows wrestling. The man was a huge legend in Japanese wrestling and the double impact of him just recently miraculously overcoming lifelong paralysis just makes this a terrible ending to his life.

01
Anderson/Gallows to Main Roster?

As reported by PWInsider, there are rumours that Bullet Club members Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows will not be debuting on NXT, but on the main roster. The report reads that the original plans were to have them debut in NXT as a part of the “Balor Club” which may also be using the “Bulletproof” name that’s been trademarked recently. However, the plans have supposedly changed and they are looking to debut the tag team after WrestleMania on the main roster.

While this doesn’t necessarily mean Finn Balor will also be joining them (we’ll have a better idea if he loses the title at NXT Takeover: Dallas), one would assume the Balor Club plans are still intact and it would only make sense if y’know the man who’s named after the faction actually shows up with them. I guess I’ll be paying close attention to WWE after WrestleMania.

Cause I’m not really interested in the PPV right now…

01
Sami Zayn to Debut at WrestleMania 32?

Reported by the Wrestling Observer, a top NXT star is expected to make their main roster debut at WrestleMania 32. That man is someone who if injuries weren’t a factor, he would’ve already been on the main roster and that’s Sami Zayn.

Zayn will be facing Shinsuke Nakamura two days before the PPV at NXT Takeover: Dallas, but is expected to wrestle at the PPV, likely against Kevin Owens, the only real opponent that makes sense for him.

Additionally, it’s also reported he’s being booked for the post-WM Europe tour, so that adds more fuel to this fire.

01
WrestleMania 33 Location Revealed

While not 100% confirmed, a lot of rumours have been circulating that the location for next year’s WrestleMania will be the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida.

This really pisses me off honestly, as I’m getting sick and tired of WWE circulating the hot states in April for outdoor shows as there are plenty of stadiums that they can hit that are indoors and can still get massive numbers, such as (because I’m biased), the Rogers Center or SKYDOME because it’ll always be the Skydome, in Toronto. But one place I cannot believe WWE still won’t go to is London, England, which has become a thriving wrestling hotbed in the past few years.

WWE as we all know, doesn’t do anything different anymore, so it’s no shock they’re sticking to California and Florida every few years for WrestleMania.

Wade Barrett Gives His Notice
Wade Barrett Gives His Notice

After an almost 10-year tenure in the WWE system, it looks like Wade Barrett has had enough. Reports have been coming out that Wade Barrett (Stuart Bennett) has given his notice to WWE and will soon be leaving. It’s unclear whether he’s planning to leave professional wrestling entirely or if he’s looking to revitalize his career in the indies.

Wade debuted on WWE television as a part of the first NXT competition which in the end turned into what should have been the incredibly well-booked Nexus angle, except Big Match John had to go and put a stop to that real fast. For those who don’t know/remember, the Nexus fought Team Cena at SummerSlam, the first real battle between the Nexus and WWE. And Cena won. After being brutally beaten and DDT’d on the concrete floor. Because y’know, YOU CAN’T SEE ME, JACK! THE CHAMP! IS! HEEEEEEEEEEEREEEEEEEEEE! “doo dodo doooooo!

Since the fall of the Nexus, Wade’s been steadily put into terrible stables, gimmick and storylines. The Corre, Bad News Barrett (half and half on that one), King Barrett and of course The League of Nations. The guy wasn’t going to light the world on fire, but he sure as shit wasn’t given the freedom he should’ve had to let the Wade Barrett character flourish, especially as the leader of the Nexus. It’s not to say the guy didn’t get title runs though, he had a few. Just a shame that WWE booked him as a champion to lose almost every non-title match like a real scrub.

It’d be interesting to see Barrett on the indie circuit to say the least, I think there’s places for him, especially with the UK wrestling scene really popping right now.

Shinsuke Nakamura Officially Signed in WWE
Shinsuke Nakamura Officially Signed in WWE

If you’ve been keeping up with the behind-the-scenes of wrestling, you’ve been well aware of Shinsuke Nakamura’s jump to WWE for a while now. But officially last night he was announced as a new WWE signee, heading for NXT.

People are of two minds with Shinsuke, one they think he should be main roster, others don’t want him to leave NXT fearing the worst. Honestly, I’m happy he’s starting out on NXT to learn the WWE-style of performance, given the change in camerawork, pacing, all that jazz. It made sense to bring AJ Styles to the main roster right away as he’s been working American-style most of his career, while Shinsuke has not.

For his first match to be against Sami Zayn is an interesting choice to say the least. You almost feel like him against Balor would’ve been the marquee choice given their familiarity and history, but no one’s complaining about his first match being against a fan favourite is Zayn. Imagine the crowd battle we’re going to get for that match. Holy shit NXT Takeover: Dallas is going to be fantastic!

Do I worry about Shinsuke in WWE? Yes. But I worry about everyone debuting in WWE.

Brie Bella Retiring
Brie Bella Retiring

With her husband Daniel Bryan (Bryan Danielson) fully retired from in-ring action now because of his injuries, it seems the family life is next for both Bryan and Brie. I don’t think it’s been officially announced yet, but Brie Bella is planning on retiring very soon, likely with the desire to settle down with Bryan and start a family.

This is a double-edged sword for me. I’m super happy that one of the two Bellas will be gone from wrestling, I think the sisters were a huge black mark on women’s wrestling, they did far more damage than good. But I’m also giving Brie props here. She’s sticking by her man, rather than being selfish and trying to keep her “career” going in WWE.

But regardless, I’m happy she’s gone, it opens another spot for a more talented female in WWE. Now I just have to hope Nikki follows suit.

Kota Ibushi Leaving NJPW/DDT?
Kota Ibushi Leaving NJPW/DDT?

Reports came out last night than Japanese star Kota Ibushi plans to leave New Japan and DDT to work a more freelance schedule. While it’s unclear if he’ll still work with both promotions just on a lighter schedule, it’s still another huge loss for New Japan Pro Wrestling, who are already hemorrhaging star talent.

Still recovering from a serious back injury, Ibushi has been out of action for about half a year or so now. So this decision likely comes due to these injuries and he’s looking to work a lighter schedule so he doesn’t really screw himself up for life.

It’s another sucky situation for Japanese wrestling fans, Ibushi was really starting to shine in New Japan before his injury. Hopefully this isn’t the last we see of him there.
